Yuletide Writing Frenzy

Man, I’ve got to really kick it into gear this weekend. Today’s episode is all the farther I’ve written… 😧

It’s All About Love

We are all born for love. It is the principle of existence, and its only end. ~Benjamin Disraeli

It’s been said that you can’t live on love but in the final analysis, the fact remains that love is all there really is.

This time of the year, we’re most acutely aware of past and current loves. Family, friends and lovers all hold a special place in our hearts whether we have an opportunity to see them in person, virtually or only in the realm of memories.

It’s okay to miss those who have passed before us. We’ll see them again some day.

It’s okay to visit loved ones in person or via screen share services. It’s the 21st Century. We have the technology. Visiting with my parents in Florida is as quick and easy as clicking a button. No TSA pat-downs. No showing up at the airport hours and hours ahead of time. It’s automagical!

It’s okay to visit friends, colleagues and clients virtually. Hopefully, you don’t have a boss who pops up on your screen and yells “YOUUUUUU’RE FIRED!!!” like Mr. Spacely used to do to George Jetson all the time. All of my video conferences have been amazingly productive and no driving required whatsoever.

However you go about it, share some love this holiday season.

My wife doesn’t know it, but she’s going to share the love by baking me some more cookies this weekend. I asked her to get a bunch of cookie dough and she’s only made one of them so far. Peanut Butter. I want some peanut butter cookies and so does Jeb. If Kelly could take care of that, that’d be greeeeaaaaaaatttttt…

Oh Christmas Tree

Vince Guaraldi Trio – O Tannenbaum

Kelly took care of putting up the tree and decorating it and lighting it and staging Plasticville and the mobile Nativity Scene and all of the other awesome holiday decor. She’s very efficient that way. She’s also the only one who knows where most of it’s kept, so there’s that…

We’re a bit behind on our classic holiday movie watching. I’m not sure we even got around to watching It’s a Wonderful Life last year. No wonder 2020 utterly sucked. We’ll have to correct that this year so we don’t wind up in Mad Max mode for 2021.

It’s Only Natural

Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence. ~Hal Borland

So, work/life balance is out of balance for me right now. I’ve got a ton of stuff to do and not much time or energy to do it.

One should not be so stressed about these things at this time of year (or any other time, for that matter).

Be that as it may, I have the tools and expertise to put things into their little slots and get them knocked out.

My problem has been in regard to maintaining focus. Everyone and everything assumes they are front and center.

Frankly, they’re not.

It needs to be sorted out so it can get done. Problem is, the sorting and prioritizing are tasks unto themselves and therefore are just another freaking thing to do in order to do the freaking things.

It can get pretty stressful, but like the trees and the grass, it simply needs to happen in its own way and in its own time. Right now, it’s time to write tomorrow’s episode so I’ve got to finish up writing today’s blog post and move merrily along.

Now this bit is done, I can get on with all the rest of it. I hope you’re having a more relaxing weekend than I expect to have…
