Hoary Hump Day 2022
Itās cold as a witchās you-know-what this week by local standards. Iāve got colleagues further west whose January ānormalā is in the negative twenties. Egads! Oh well,
Spring

Doing The Impossible
Start by doing whatās necessary; then do whatās possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible. ~Francis of Assisi
Iāve been staying ahead of things for the most part.
My system, such as it is, intersects with a fair dose of good luck to keep my head above water.
Given the prevailing temperatures, thatās about the best I can hope for.
As long as things remain evenly paced, I should get through the current rush with my sanity intact.
Meh {Spoiler Warning}

I said in my last post that Iād wind up watching The Eternals and let you know what I got from it.
Not much.
As I said previously, Iām not a big fan of world-threatening storylines. Thatās just not my thing.
I didnāt mind it for The Avengers because they built up to it over the course of several movies and it still felt up close and personal throughout the arc.
Not these guys. Their original stated purpose was to save all of humanity from the Deviants. Oh well, plot twist, their actual purpose was to help their weird-looking boss, Arishem, to help hatch a new Celestial.
Thatās their moral dilemma throughout the movie.
Oh, gee, planet Earth is a big olā egg and itās gonna hatch a Celestial.
Yay
But that means billions of human beings and helpless animals, birds, fish, etc are gonna be toast.
Boo
But if the Celestial doesnāt hatch, it will have a butterfly effect that prevents the eventual creation of billions of other entities sometime in the future.
Boo
What do we do?
Itās an interesting twist and a fine moral conundrum, but the downfall of āwhole world at riskā stories is that you generally realize that theyāre not going to actually destroy the world.
Alderaan? Sure. Krypton? Given. Random imaginary planet somewhere in space? Total coin toss. Earth? Nope, guaranteed save.

Some other problems I had with it was that very few of the characters are particularly likeable. The one guy has a comic relief sidekick who saves the movie from being entirely unbearable.
We donāt really get to know them because they stick to their āHey, weāre immortal world-saving secret supers youāre not supposed to know about.ā angle most of the time.
The one guy is just a creep who never really improves significantly.
Another guy who has been keeping the big secret turns out to be a semi-baddie because he wants to stay on-mission, but his would-be girlfriend semi-convinces him that the Earth is special and should be saved from the ensuing process of hatching a new Celestial.
Basically, I donāt care about any of them because Iām not given much reason to.
The ones who are somewhat sympathetic arenāt given enough development to make them particularly enjoyable. The ones who are not particularly sympathetic, well, Iām just glad theyāre dead and hope they stay that way.
Apart from Dane breaking out the Ebony Sword, Iām not seeing much in the way of integrating this into the overall tapestry of the MCU. Iām sure they will anyway, but itās not readily apparent how the surviving Eternals will fit into the forthcoming Kang arc.
So, basically, itās largely forgettable and constitutes about two hours of my life Iāll never get back.

Walls Of Your Mind
What do you hang on the walls of your mind? ~Eve Arnold
Right now, given the surplus of work stuff I have to do, my walls are plastered with work-related matters.
Iām going to have to work it out because I really need to get on with The Sentinels.
Guess weāll see.
Thatās it for now. I hope youāre enjoying your week and keeping warm.
