National Cranberry Relish Day 2025
In preparation for π¦ Thanksgiving Day π₯§, today happens to be National Cranberry Relish Day. It’s actually a good idea to practice your holiday dishes before the guests arrive and to get an early taste of the season while you practice.
Whole π΄ Berry
I know that the canned, jellied cranberry sauce is the βG.O.A.T.β for tradition and nostalgic reasons. However, I prefer to make a whole berry cranberry sauce. There is something to be said for the beautiful texture that you get from cooking fresh cranberries. I love a good leftover Thanksgiving sandwich, and whole berry cranberry sauce is necessary for building the best leftover sandwich. ~Michelle Wallace, Between The Slices, Houston, TX
I’ve been warming up to the idea of whole-berry cranberry sauce over the years.
Typically, I prefer the jelly straight from the can and can happily eat a whole can by myself, although I shouldn’t.
I don’t think it’s one of those things where people feel strongly one way or another.
Probably, people default to the can because prep is easy: open the can and shloop it out.
The whole-berry stuff tends to show that you’ve taken some care and effort to make a seasonal dish.
Well, that is until you see the can of whole berry stuff on the shelf next to the jelly cylinders.

The Perfect Cranberry Sauce For Thanksgiving | Chef Jean-Pierre
If you want to make it yourself, who better to ask than our friendly neighborhood French Chef?
It’s awesome to have people like him sharing skills and passion online for our convenience and entertainment.
When it comes to fancy stuff, I prefer to be a consumer rather than a creator.
Sometimes I’m in the mood for cooking, but mostly I’m in the mood for eating.
‘Tis the season for both, so it’s up to you whether you prefer to be in the kitchen or banished from it.

π₯« Shloop! π₯«
Jellied. Canned with ridges. Full stop. ~Jason Stanhope, Lowland, Charleston, SC
I’m busy working on π‘ππ Goodness & Lights πππ‘, so the shloop option is simply better for me.
Whole-berry is cool if available, but I still don’t have strong feelings for or against it.
I’m looking forward to embracing the holiday feelz and actually enjoying them this year.
I’m already 58% complete with this year’s Holiday Season Serial Romance, as intended. So, that’s good.
I like that it’s good this time around. Thank God for small favors and holiday feelz.
That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for jukeboxes…
