Make Up Your Mind Day 2025
Most people take New Year’s Eve to roll out a list of “resolutions”, knowing it’s doomed to fail. Today is also known as Make Up Your Mind Day, in which we tiptoe past the minefield of traditional resolutions to affect change that will really take hold in the coming year.
Resolute
Let our New Year’s resolution be this: we will be there for one another as fellow members of humanity, in the finest sense of the word. ~Goran Persson
We’ve all done it.
We make a list of “resolutions” and begin them in earnest.
We might even believe we can make the changes we’ve planned.
Problem is, we’ve framed it in a way that our subconscious will actively revolt against.
Want to lose weight, as always? Cool story, bro. What about all the Christmas cookies you haven’t finished off?
Want to get out and walk daily? Hello, Polar Vortex. Try going for a brisk walk when you can get life-threatening frostbite before you reach the end of the block?
It’s crazy and we’re not doing it this year.
So, what are we supposed to do?

New Year’s Resolutions Are A TRAP Watch This Before 2026
We’re doing an end run on resolutions by envisioning the kind of person who has already achieved their end goal.
Want to lose weight? Figure out what a person who doesn’t weigh as much does.
Figure out the steps to get there and break it out in steps you know you can accomplish.
Forget the blistering winds and sheets of ice outside. Walk around inside your house a bit more each day.

Waiting To Be Written
The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written. We can help write that story by setting goals. ~Melody Beattie
I’ve got four more episodes of 💡🎄🌟 Goodness & Lights 🌟🎄💡 to be written, and it’s getting close.
What’s also waiting to be written is next year’s posts without the use of the National Day Calendar.
It’s a great site, but I’ve been using it as a bit of a crutch and it’s time to move on to a new form of inspiration.
I’ve worked out a general calendar for 2026 and have assigned post titles for all of January.
You just can’t do the same thing the same way indefinitely. You need to stir things up and keep it fresh.
That’s all for today. See you back on Saturday for those ten lords a’leaping…
