Vernal Turn
Today we set the cold aside and step into π Spring π· with all of its joyous color, warmth and growth…
π³ Beautiful π Spring π· Came π
The beautiful spring came; and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also. ~Harriet Ann Jacobs
The seasons take a quarter turn, and here we are in flower season.
I like flowers and leafy trees.
I like the birds and squirrels bouncing around in the backyard.
The π bird π¦ food? π¦ Less π so.
I don’t begrudge a bug its existence, only not in my house.
Not a real fan of varmints π getting in my house π π π
Even so, if there’s anything to love about π Springtime π·, it’s the π§οΈ lovely gray rainy days. β
After all, April showers bring May flowers…
And Mayflowers bring Pilgrims, without whom we wouldn’t be celebrating our 250th Anniversary. π¦
π Spring π· planting gets us to π Summer π₯ growing, πAutumnπ eating and βοΈ Winter βοΈ sleeping it off again.
All things in due course and everything in balance.
π Equinox βοΈ
The Spring Equinox explained.
| A funny thing about the equinoxes in my story is that Tim Wisler, aka Foxfire, has one of those fancy lake houses in the vicinity of Woodstock, NY.
He got a deal on the place because it was a spec house. Unfortunately, it faces due east across the lake, so for about two weeks each year, this open concept den and kitchen space becomes something like the Death Star firing chamber. But, he’s Tim Wisler, so you know he got a great deal on the place for that minor design flaw. His wife and kids have adapted to the fact that you need to wear a welding mask to breakfast around the equinoxes since the place is absolutely gorgeous the rest of the time. |

π³ Tree With Leaves π
Now every field is clothed with grass, and every tree with leaves. ~Henry David Thoreau
Kelly and I went out to replenish some groceries. We’re not quite there yet.
The trees are still pretty bare, but we’ve definitely shaken off the stark feeling of the βοΈ Winter βοΈ we’ve left behind.
What’s definitely blossoming is The Sentinels Chronicle. Latest manuscript word and page counts have us at 345 pages and 150,289Β words for The Sentinels: New Blood and 350 pages and 154,329 words for The Sentinels: Price of Engagement, which is still a work in progress. I’m almost at the end of Book 2 and eager to push on to #3, The Sentinels: Heartstrings.
So, here I go to finish up Book 2 and push on.
Start at the Beginning
That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for squirrels…
