Book Bonanza 2021
Wooooooooo!!!!!! 😺 The Berks Book Bonanza 📚 is this weekend!!!!!!
It is a simple fact of life that one cannot have too many books. Library book sales feed that particular mania for Kelly and me.
Best Friend
Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog it’s too dark to read. ~Groucho Marx
Oh, you certainly can’t have enough books. And now, we have even more.
The 📚📚📚 The Berks Book Bonanza 📚📚📚 is a library sale that is not to be missed. Between this and the Pottsville Library’s annual sale, how can you possibly go wrong?
Those I purchased are largely for research, but I’m sure I’ll enjoy reading them as well. Kelly got some for school and some for pleasure.
If you’re in the general vicinity of Reading, PA and you’re a bibliophile, hit the Berkshire Mall up for some great deals. $1 for paperbacks, $2 for hardcovers and they have audiobooks, DVDs and vinyl albums for sale.

The Wonderful Insults of Groucho Marx
Groucho is always good for some laughs. After a long week of work, I’m overdue for a chuckle.
Kelly said we can watch Demolition Man later when she’s done with her chores. That’s another one that’s always good for some laughs. At this point, it’s a little bittersweet. The pacified crapsaccharine world that Doctor Cocteau created mimics our own a bit too closely for my liking.
Educational
The Worst Writing Advice I Have Ever Received
I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book. ~Groucho Marx
What Chris mentioned in the video is that you should read in the genre you’re writing. That way, you’re familiar with the genre expectations. You can learn how other authors handle descriptions and concepts that are specific to that style of storytelling.
Unlike Groucho, I don’t restrict myself to books. There are so many movies and TV series (live action and animated) in the superhero subcategory of urban fantasy that it would be foolish to dismiss their contributions.

Obviously, superheroes originated in comic books and are primarily a visual medium but I have read enough superhero prose fiction to justify my own efforts with The Sentinels series. Given how close we are to the centennial of the Golden Age of Comics and the MCU’s upcoming plans to continue introducing classic comic favorites to screens large and small, I don’t see superhero genre going out of style any time soon.
Thanks to the materials I’ve gathered along the way and some of the books we bought today, I’m also very prepared to begin work on stories in the Tales Of Olde Auringia series as well as stories from the Far-Flung Reaches. Some of today’s haul will also help me put some authentic flavor into my current work in progress, The Sentinels – New Blood.

And no, I’m not just trying to justify buying a bunch of books I don’t actually have time to read. I will make the time to read these so I can study how these big name writers handle all of the elements of storytelling. How do the horror writers instill a sense of creeping dread? How does a western compare to a modern police procedural? How does a medieval mystery put you back into the 12th Century in a convincing way? So much to learn and tomorrow it’s $5 a bag…
I’ve got plenty left to do today (like taking a nap). 📚🤑📚🤑📚 I hope you’re having a fun weekend, too.
