Easter Ham
Tomorrow is the day when dear old Peter Cottontail drops off the Easter eggs and candy. The ham? That’s from the grocery store, duh…
Spiraling
Country ham is baked whole, usually with a glaze, sometimes studded with cloves, and served as the centerpiece of Christmas and Easter feasts. ~Kate Christensen
That’s certainly one way of going about it, but give me a spiral cut ham any day of the week.
Solid country ham winds up being cut into enormous random chunks, while a spiral already has portion control built in.
I also feel that the pre-cut makes the juices cook in between the layers. Gorgeous.
You get a consistently spicy, moist bite instead of a random chunk of plain ham.
That’s fine. Ham tastes good on its own, but I like mine to have that little extra something simmering between the layers.
Not Easter Without…
Here Comes Peter Cottontail (1971)
π¦π° January Q. Irontail! π°π¦
Rankin & Bass was the heart of the holidays when I was growing up.
Christmas has a ton of them, but you also get Groundhog Day and Easter.
The great thing about this one is the exceptional cast.
Casey Kasem is Peter. Danny Kay is Mr. Sassafras and Major Bunny and Antoine the caterpillar.
Chef’s kiss is the antagonist played by Vincent Price.
How awesome is that? A bitter Goth rabbit with a metal replacement tail and a plan to destroy Easter!
The π St. Patrick’s Day βοΈ eggs are the clincher, and you see Irontail get his comeuppance in the closing credits.
Just brilliant.

Reality Of Tomorrow
It is difficult to say what is impossible, for the dream of yesterday is the hope of today and the reality of tomorrow. ~Robert H. Goddard
I hope I can spend as much time as humanly possible writing this weekend.
I’m really on a jag and I need to ride it as long and as far as I can.
Does that sound desperate? It kind of is.
I’m only too aware that there are more days behind me than in front.
I’ve got a LOT of story stuck in my head and I really want to get it out.
I finally broke through to book 3, but I’ve already got stuff planned for book 5 and beyond.
Now that I’ve finally (sort of) gotten my internet sorted out, I shouldn’t have to spend as much time waiting for button clicks to execute or for type-ahead to show on screen.
That’s just maddening…
That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for Compound π V…
