Father’s Day 2019
It’s that day again! Father’s Day is always a treat in the Knowlan family because we have such marvelous fathers to share the day with.
Senior
Dad taught me everything I know. Unfortunately, he didn’t teach me everything he knows. ~Al Unser
For those who know me well enough to know that I go by my middle name, they know that it’s because I’m a Junior. The original Thomas Robert Knowlan is my dad.
We’re a lot alike. I got to be tall like him. I’ve got some of his good looks and some of Mom’s. I’ve got their sense of humor and he taught me how to be sociable in a variety of different social settings. I can honestly say he’s always been my hero and my standard to try to measure up to.
One of the ways in which we’re not is that he’s an automotive enthusiast and I’m mechanically retarded. Dad was a race car driver and a mechanic. His love of cars led to a career as a repair shop owner and master mechanic. He found his happy place and he made a good living doing what he loved. Now, he and my mother are living their happily ever after down in Fort Myers.
Today (like every other day, actually), I’m both proud and privileged to say I love my Dad. I’m glad he’s feeling better and got to come home for Father’s Day.
Junior
As for me, I’m blessed to be the father of four marvelous children. They bring joy to my days.
What does not bring joy to my days is the continuing pain from various prior injuries. I’m not a fan of that. I woke up with a wicked headache, a stabbing pain in my ankle and in various places around my chest. Ow! I’ve really had enough of all that.
Heroes
I don’t know who that guy is or what books he’s referring to but I’m glad he found a secret that works for him. I’m not there yet.
Where I am is Chapter Six. Yes, I was at Chapter Nine previously but I went back to the beginning and addressed some issues. I’ve been able to reuse some of the first draft but I had some problems I wanted to shave away.
That’s Father’s Day for this year. I hope you enjoyed yours as well.
