In Like A Lion
Wow, some more snow this morning. Some more coming this weekend. Imagine my surprise…
Yeah, It’s Still Winter
The Spring Equinox is fast approaching, but it’s not here yet. Take a breath and enjoy the pretty, fluffy snow.
We’ve got a bit more of this winter business to endure, so just let winter be winter and spring will get here in a couple more weeks.
We had some high winds recently and I had to detach the lattice from our community-mandated screen structure. As weather and time allow, I’ll have to get back out there and get it all back together just in time for some more wind to come around and totally destroy it.
Whatever.
I’m A Sucker For…
My beloved wife, Kelly.
She brings joy to my life like the sun brings light to my days. She is my constant joy and strength. She is the best thing that ever happened to my life and I can’t imagine where or what I’d ever be without her.
Sometimes life gets busy and we wind up being apart for too long doing our daily do. Sometimes, we’ve got chores to attend to at home that might as well leave us in completely separate universes. Sometimes, we’re just binge watching shows that the other one doesn’t have much of an interest in.
Even with all those little distractions, just a glimpse of my darling one is enough to bring a little slice of heaven to this dreary world of ours.
She makes me feel like a little kid whenever she smiles at me.
She brightens my world with her wacky cackling.
I’m so blessed to have her as part of my life that I can’t help blabbing about it from time to time.
My kids are fans of the Jo-Bros and the Jo-Bros are evidently fans of their wives just like I am of mine. If they’re allowed to include their wives in a music video, then I’m allowed to include my wife in my blog.
Talking Mime?
Never get a mime talking. He won’t stop. ~Marcel Marceau
One of the things about writing is that when you write as an observer of an unfolding tale, the characters tend to throw you unanticipated curve-balls.
I had one of those last night. A superhero in the making got into a scuffle with a couple of gang members. Naturally, I popped in on their conversation with a Public Defender subsequent to the event. As much as TV cop dramas love to treat these lawyers as lazy incompetents who barely passed the bar, I was left wondering whether or not one of these oft-maligned attorneys could get these guys a walk based on the circumstances.
Is there anything more annoying than an after the fact plug-in character tossing a wrench in the works? Count on a lawyer to screw up a simple plot twist. LOL.
Going to have to do a bit of research to make the characters more consistent as well as answering the pesky questions of where a non-realistic what if proposal intersects with everyday life.
In the world of The Sentinels, supers are few and far between. Life is much like it is for us here in our own world. As such, I need a better handle on how a regular world like ours would contend with the presence of superheroes.
In our world, we have RLSH (Real Life Super Heroes). Some of them actively fight crime by providing tips to their local police or even trying to intervene in the lives of people affected by crime in one way or another. A lot of them are just community activists. They’re willing to take their own time to try to make a difference in their home towns or their adopted homes. Take a look at this news segment on a couple of superheroes from Harrisburg, the capital city of Pennsylvania.
Even though The Sentinels are superheroes in the full comic book sense of the term, their founding philosophy and the majority of their actions are much in keeping with the real-life missions of the RLSH in our own world. Captain Freedom, Mary Christmas and Foxfire are trying to do their best for the people of New York City, America and the world at large. In doing so, they’re hoping to inspire people to do the same.
Is there anything more heroic than trying to set a good example?
That’s all for today. I’ve been burning up pencil lead on a daily basis in order to get the tale told, published and sold. The world at large may be frozen this weekend, but my writing hand is hot and loose!
