National Coffee Ice Cream Day 2023
Well, it was nice to have a gratuitous holiday long weekend. Now it’s National Coffee Ice Cream Day and I’m here for it. I’ve always had a soft spot for coffee ice cream and it’s a great flavor for almost-🍂Autumn🍂.
Gettin’ ☕ Late
I like coffee because it gives me the illusion that I might be awake. ~Lewis Black
What a fine illusion that is. Long weekends are never quite long enough.
Emmeline treated us to a day at Hershey Park. That was fun but after a certain point, my inner hobbit was craving the comforts of home.
Sadly, on our previous trip I discovered that I’m over the whole rollercoaster thing. I used to really love them, but I can’t take it anymore.
Just another reminder that I’m no Spring chicken. The seasons are moving on and I have other things I need to do.
It would seem that I need a fair amount of coffee to help me do them.
Focus ☕ Tunes
Jazz Relaxing Music 🎧 Happy Mood Coffee Music & Smooth Bossa Nova | Jazz Music to work, study
A tall cup of coffee to keep my whistle wet and some nice focus music like this will help me get through the stuff that seems to pile up rather suddenly.
I took a first pass at Carol’s Christmas and I’m not really feeling it. I’ll have to go back to the drawing board. I’d really like to have the whole thing written and scheduled by the time Thanksgiving Day arrives.
It’s a goal I’ve had before. Fortunately, this year I managed to get my other goal accomplished. Well, mostly. I was hoping to have my monthlies done by July. August isn’t so far off the mark.
So, I’ve got all of September, October and most of November to get the Holiday Season Serial Romance done before the holiday season kicks in. Totally doable.
On other matters, the onset of almost-🍂Autumn🍂 is putting me in a cozy frame of mind. If the weather will cool off accordingly, maybe Kelly and I can start enjoying some dark evenings in front of the fire.
Maybe when the hubbub around the wedding is past, we’ll be in a position to enjoy that little seasonal treat. I hope so.
We ☕ Feel
Almost all my middle-aged and elderly acquaintances, including me, feel about 25, unless we haven’t had our coffee, in which case we feel 107. ~Martha Beck
I know that’s right.
In my brain, I feel like I’m still in my twenties. The rest of me, not so much. Thankfully, I don’t have as physically arduous a job as I used to.
I can say that being mentally exhausted is actually more tiring than running around a factory or warehouse 12 hours a night.
Having done both, I’d have to say that what I’m doing now is far more taxing than just busting my hump for extended periods of time.
The good news is that one of the many benefits of my current situation is the ability to stock up PTO so I can engage my No Monday Policy for the final quarter of the year.
In truth, I’d like to be able to do that for all of the -ber months, but that will have to wait until I can afford to retire.
I won’t be able to do that until I can afford to pay for a batch of ISBNs for my books and a bunch of other business expenses besides.
So, that’s all on the someday stack. Right now, I’ve got to get a bunch of work done at work and finish up this year’s story in time to enjoy the holidays.
And that’s my post-holiday hygge Hump Day. I hope you’re having a lovely week.
