National Cookie Day 2024
In keeping with the recently inaugurated holiday season, today is National πͺ Cookie πͺ Day, and despite my current A1C-reducing diet, I’m all about it.

I think baking cookies is equal to Queen Victoria running an empire. There’s no difference in how seriously you take the job, how seriously you approach your whole life. ~Martha Stewart
That is some serious dedication to baking a damn cookie. I don’t take my cookies quite that seriously, but I appreciate the passion of those who do.
Christmas has always been a cookie-centric holiday to me. Even more than a mountain of wrapped presents under the tree on Christmas morning, this holiday brought weeks and weeks of glorious cookies in fantastic variety and quantities.
They’re delicious and at least partially nutritious. Given my current dietary restrictions, I’ve been researching ways to get that Christmas cookie vibe without the corresponding spike in my blood sugar.
I have a variety of recipes and have purchased the appropriate alternative ingredients, but haven’t started baking. Why? Because I’m busy, dammit! I’m freakin’ busy.
It’s the holiday season and I’m still busy enough to put me in the freaking looney bin. I need to figure out how to further protect my mental and spiritual peace at this time of year.
The first thing that comes to mind, of course, is to dig in to some keto Christmas cookies. To that end, check out the following video for more than two hours of sugar-free Christmas cookie ideas.

Keto Christmas Cookie Compilation!!! What I’ve Learned over 4 years of Baking Keto!!!
The great thing about 21st Century living is that subject matter experts have a variety of platforms to provide information like this for us to enjoy.
Back when I was growing up, there was no shortage of cooking shows. Julia Child and Justin Wilson were always there to show us how to make various dishes, but we had to wait until a specific time on a specific channel and you got what you got.
These days, you can search for keto Christmas cookies, pumpkin spice beverages, cranberry scones or whatever you might have a craving for and get a wealth of options whenever you want to know it.
How much better could life get?
Well, some people are saying that household robots will eventually be as commonplace as TVs, microwaves and cars. How awesome would it be to have your Plastic Pal who’s FUN to be with cranking out batches of sugar-free Christmas cookies whenever you had a craving?

My sister, mom, and I always make holiday treats like Christmas cutout cookies and red and green chocolate chip cookies ~Devon Windsor
If it’s good enough for a professional model, it’s good enough for me. I specifically remember years of Christmas memories where my sister and I would help our mom make those wonderful varieties of cookies.
Who needs robots when you have kids, right?
In any case, some of the greatest cookies to make were the ones you could decorate.
Sure, it’s great to grab a spoonful of dough, roll it into a ball on a cookie sheet and wait for them to bake down into glorious little circles of sweet Christmas joy.
But the cut-out cookies and the gingerbread men were extra-special because you could customize them with icing and raisins and colored sugar crystals. It was an artistic adventure.
I’ve always loved creating. Whether it was tasty, beautiful cookies or papier mΓ’chΓ© tree ornaments, whether it was handcrafted ash trays made of air drying clay and polished stones or woodcraft ornament kits, whether it was staging epic adventures with my action figures and playsets or hosting epic adventures with my friends over piles of dice and RPG books, it was always about the process of creating.
I just love to make stuff.
I wish I had the patience and manual dexterity to draw well because I’d doodle ’til my fingers bled.
Instead, I create software to make my job a little easier and I write episodes to fill a seasonal quota on my ChristmasΒ site. That’s what I have the time and energy to do these days.
That’s how I celebrate the holidays.
If you didn’t already know, The Lights of Pine Hollow has begun and we’re several episodes in. I hope you’re enjoying it, or if you didn’t know about it that you can jump over and start reading.
That’s all for today. Even though there is literally no such thing as enough cookies, I do have to get on with other things.
