National Eggnog Day 2025
It’s Christmas π EveΒ and we’re going to celebrate this Holiday π Hump πͺ Day by recognizing National Eggnog Day! Whether you like yours spiked or natural, let’s take a look at this traditional π¦π π» ChristmasΒ ππ beverage…
π²π€― Can It Be? π€―π²
Eggnog adds the most delicious holiday flavor without a ton of extra ingredientsβ¦ And during the holidays, letβs be real, weβre all busy. ~Tia Mowry
Oh my word, it just occurred to me.
Eggnog may very well be the Christmas version of Pumpkin π Spice!
Can you imagine? Eggnog Lattes! Eggnog cookies! Eggnog shampoo!
The possibilities are endless.
Also, since πAutumnπ doesn’t end until a few days before Christmas, you could actually have:
π₯ Eggnog π» Pumpkin π Spice π₯€ Lattes!
π» Nog Your Own Eggs π₯
How to Make Homemade Eggnog | Chef Jean-Pierre
Apparently, it’s very easy.
Milk, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, spice to taste, booze if desired.
Simple. Tasty. Classic. Sold, pre-made, by the jug. Even more classic.
Eggnog: A Christmas History

Can I refill your eggnog for you? Get you something to eat? Drive you out to the middle of nowhere and leave you for dead? ~Clark W. Griswold, in National Lampoonβs Christmas Vacation (1989)
What really adds a bit of holiday spice to your eggnog is a dash of sarcasm, and there’s nobody better at that than Clark W. Griswold

That’s a classic, too. A holiday tradition, just like eggnog.
I have a little mayhem in my Holiday Season Serial Romance, but not quite to the degree of a Griswold event.
This year’s has only 8 more episodes needing to be written, so most of that will occur this coming weekend.
π‘ππ Goodness & Lights πππ‘ has been a hoot so far, so I’m excited to see how I wrap it all up in a bow.
*Gasp* Are you saying that you don’t know how the thing ends?
That’s exactly what I’m saying.
I am what is known as a “discovery writer”.
I know, instinctively, the places the story needs to go, but I don’t plan it the way a lot of writers do.
I need to go there and watch it happen and report back to you in story form.
What you’re reading is what I’m seeing, hearing, feeling.
It’s a bit more fraught, because planners have a structure that they’re sticking to.
It makes it easier to say this guy meets that guy here. This plot twist happens there. Things get jumbled up at this point. Yada, yada, yada.
I could do that.
Technically, that is a thing I could do, but it feels so formulaic and stiff.
The better planners build it up like a forensic model. Skeleton, add clay for musculature, add clay for skin, add pigment for skin, glass eyes, matching wig, boom, here’s your victim.
The lesser planners crank it out like a sheet of gingerbread men.
Sure, you get a finished product and you can scale according to your typing speed and however long it takes you to format your book or have it formatted for you.
That doesn’t sit right with me.
That’s not how I experience story.
It’s not some set of Legos for me to snap together for you.
I go watch it and transcribe what I’m experiencing to share with you for your enjoyment.
Hopefully, that’s working out.
That’s all for today. See you back on Saturday for fruitcake…
