National Roast Leg of Lamb Day 2025
A rainy Wednesday is a wonderful time for it to be National Roast Leg of Lamb Day. If you happen to enjoy this sumptuous dish, just be certain your wife isn’t holding a grudge…
Fourth-grade Bedouin Feast
My mother worked full-time running a foundation, but she found all the time in the world to have supper ready every night, feed us shirred eggs on the weekends, and produce a leg of lamb for my fourth-grade Bedouin feast at school. ~Isabel Gillies
We’re rolling up on Mother’s Day, and this quote reminds me to remind you to show your mom some appreciation.
I appreciate my mom and spare no opportunity to let her know. Nor should you.
Don’t be stingy lavishing love on the woman who took you to lessons and amusement parks and every other place this lovely woman drove you before you were old enough to do it yourself.
I couldn’t have made a Neanderthal bust for social studies if Mom hadn’t taken me to the store for a box of clay and donated one of her styrofoam heads.
Okay, we’re just going to pause and appreciate that my mom had a styrofoam head sitting around…
Moving on.
Fair warning everybody. If your mother is still around and she wasn’t an abusive psycho (some of them are), here’s your notification to plan something nice for her.
She brought you into this world. The least you can do is remind her why she thought it was worth doing.
A Classic Twist
Garlic & Herb Roasted Leg of Lamb – EASY, Juicy & Delicious Recipe!!
So, I’ve got to admit that I don’t recall having had a single bite of this marvelous-looking meal.
I have had souvlaki, but that’s already cut up into chunks that are virtually indistinguishable from any other kind of meat.
The meat, as depicted in the video above, looks absolutely phenomenal. It’s definitely on the short list of new things to try this year.
That being said, I believe that I will need to find a restaurant that has it available. As much as I might like to try this particular delicacy, I have this lingering memory of English classes long past and it gives me pause to think of Kelly having one of these tucked away in the freezer… 😬

The Lamb’s Skin
Civilization is the lamb’s skin in which barbarism masquerades. ~Thomas Bailey Aldrich
This is something that has come up in recent chapters of The Sentinels: New Blood. Where does civility end and conflict begin?
I’ve got some characters going through some pretty grinding difficulties. As with real people, the characters’ responses shape our view of them.
Are you a villain? Are you a hero? Are you just a person stuck between a rock and a hard place?
That’s character development, both real and in prose.
That’s all for today. See you back on Saturday for some tasty 🍤
