This ๐Ÿ’ฎ blossoming ๐Ÿ’ฎ Hump ๐Ÿช Day finds us one day closer to The Boys (Season 5). Sadly, it’s the last season, but there’s always new cool stuff coming out ๐Ÿ“บ

Spring continues apace, which is actually in keeping with the name.

The grass becomes bouncy again.

Flowers spring up, seemingly out of nowhere.

Bugs and varmints jump up out of their seasonal beds.

Everything is springing back to life and the temperatures are bouncing around like a superball.

Cold, warm, cool, hot, cold, cool…

Variety is the spice of life, so enjoy it while it lasts.

And this particular variety is coming quickly to an end.

When the final season of The Boys drops, we’re all going to binge it and that will be that.

The nice thing is that with five seasons, you can always go back and rewatch the whole thing when you’re ready.

The thing about this story is that as bleak and jaded as the whole thing is at its core, it is so ridiculously funny.

The way they follow superhero tropes to their most ridiculous extremes always dips into the comically absurd.

I can’t deny that it has had an influence on The Sentinels, but not the way you’d think.

As entertaining as I happen to find The Boys, I don’t find it particularly inspirational.

Even the typical dystopian piece of fiction is intended to be an example of how not to be.

As it turns out, the comics on which the series is based are even more bleak and gratuitously grotesque.

Sorry, I can’t do that. Don’t want to.

I’m an optimist. I’d like to think that people can and do have good intentions.

It’s also commonly true that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Things go awry despite your best intentions.

You can have perfectly valid dramatic tension in your story without anyone specifically being horrendous.

Sure, in reality, some people definitely are. There are unquestionably some genuinely heinous people in this world.

I don’t specifically wish to write about such people.

I’m peppering some into my story to maintain verisimilitude, but I have no interest in taking a prose detour through their corrupt minds.

Bad guys do bad things until someone or something stops them.

That’s the nature of evil in my story. The more evil something is, the less I want to examine it.

But that’s just me.

If you like deep-dive thrillers where you get to climb into the horrible person’s head and gain “sympathy for the devil“, I believe there are plenty of authors who will fill that need for you.

Me? I’d rather see good people trying to do good things and having it go to pieces anyway.

That’s my lane and you’re welcome to navigate it with me…

That’s all for today. See you back on Saturday for ๐Ÿฅ— salad…
