TGMF – Thank Goodness for Manly Friday

The real sign of a manly man is to have the strength of spirit and character that shines through the macho facade and the goofy masculine antics.  Men are simple creatures.  Real men keep things simple and give credit where credit is due.

The conspicuous hallmark of manliness is strength.  We admire strong men.  The guys who can bend iron bars.  The guys who can endure a triathlon. The guys who can go through hell and come out the other side with a knowing smirk and a couple of good stories.  Strength is more than lifting heavy things.  The outer strength we see displayed can only be a byproduct of inner strength.  That is a true sign of a manly man.

Wisdom

Boys have dreams. Men have goals.

Boys have energy. Men have drive.

Boys have adventures. Men have experiences.

It’s manly to transform the boy you were into the man you’re meant to be without losing the essence of who you always were.

Attitude of Gratitude

A manly man is in touch with reality.  The reality is that we are all connected and that there is so much to be grateful for in life.  Regardless of your religion, spirituality or philosophy, the lynch pin of manliness is an attitude of gratitude.  If you can be genuinely grateful for the good things in life as well as the hard, transformative experiences, you will be rich indeed.  Recognizing the blessings in life whether they be sweet or bitter is a manly endeavor.  Don’t let this Friday pass you by without taking a moment to appreciate the many gifts you’ve received and will continue to receive as long as you have the good sense to ask.  Don’t get in your own way.

I really appreciate you spending this week of manliness with me.  I hope I’ve given you some things to think about and maybe a laugh or two.  If you should pass my way, give me a nod and grunt me a manly “yo” and I will gladly return the compliment.  That’s how manly men roll, my friends.
