9 Ladies Dancing 2021

Yes, I realize there are only 5 ladies dancing. C’mon, man! There’s only so much you can do with free, public domain images on short notice…

🍾 Happy New Year!!! 🎆

Hope smiles from the threshold of the year to come, whispering, ‘It will be happier.’ ~Alfred Lord Tennyson

Hope springs eternal and we can certainly hope that 2021 winds up being every bit as good as 2020 was bad, but we’re still sufficiently traumatized by the neverending suck of the previous year that it’s hard to even hope for anything less than the very end of the world.

I’m generally an optimistic person but wow, what a fuckin’ year we’ve just been through.

As much as one could conclude that things could not possibly get any worse, we’re heading into some potentially dangerous waters.

The best one can do is to try to be the best person one can under the circumstances. Perhaps if we can focus on improving ourselves, we can make the world a better place in spite of the completely reprehensible piles of 💩 who populate our various levels of government.

Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man. ~Benjamin Franklin

💃 Dancing Day 💃

University of Utah’s Women’s Chorus performing Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day”- John Rutter

It’s a lovely song but if you have the same problem that I have understanding songs, I’ve included this link to the lyrics for you.

It’s the 9th day of Christmas and I’m kind of running out of symbolic Christmas songs to link here, so it’s kind of a good thing that Wednesday is Epiphany.

📘 The Job ✍🏻

The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery. ~Francis Bacon

Well, the mystery for me has always been what’s happening next in the story. This is actually no way to run a series. Pantsing works fine for some people but I’ve traditionally had a problem with this technique leading me into dead-ends.

I’ll be working on this in the coming year. I’ve got a collection of books to help me on my way. Who knows? Maybe I’ll actually read them this time!

Actually, I’m going to be working very hard in the coming year to be more organized and efficient. I’ve got four genres in which to concoct stories. I also have to get my monthlies done on Christmas All The Time and start the Holiday Season Serial Romance earlier than I did this time.

Gotta love plans. They have a much better chance of coming to pass than having no plan at all, but they’re often negatively impacted by my penchant for procrastination. Even so, this year is the year for solid plans and sticking to them because needs must.

There are changes that are coming whether I’m ready for them or not. I need to get this going so I can get on with the life I’ve wanted for quite some time.

Wish me skill. Leaving such things to luck is a non-starter. I need to develop the skill and the will to get it done. Let 2021 be that magic year…

I’m yay-close to the end of this year’s Holiday Season Serial Romance, so time to get back to the writing! I hope you’re enjoying your New Year’s long weekend, too.
