April showers bring May flowers, or so they say. Fortunately, today was more my style than some of the summery preview days we’ve had recently. The weather is a bit weird. We get a few days of almost summer and then the temperature drops to a marvelous chill for a few days. Even so, the flowers don’t seem to mind.

Mother’s Day is fast upon us and with it, the birthday of the best Mother’s Day present I’ve ever given my wife.

There’s plenty to celebrate this weekend, not the least of which is the news I got from the doctor this week.

Yes, I’m diabetic. Yes, lifestyle changes and medication have gotten my glucose count back down into a nearly normal range

If I’m lucky, we’ll get to play Scrabble tomorrow as part of our Mother’s Day festivities. Will have to see what other treats arise.

It goes without saying that we’ll be starting the day with Polka Joe Manjack on WMGH 105.5FM.

Okay, as much as I love the spectacular autumn colors and the spare, crisp beauty of winter, I do enjoy the riot of colors when the flowers begin to bloom again. That such things come with a healthy dose of grey, drizzly days is an added bonus.

I’m only too happy to stay in and get on with work of one sort or another, but I absolutely love taking a walk around the neighborhood when the temperatures are brisk and the sun is suitably veiled with heavy clouds.

If you’ve ever wondered where the old chestnut about April showers came from, Mr. Weather☂️ seems to have found the answer.

I’ve got plenty of imagination. I simply don’t have the energy to actually act on it consistently.

Part of that is the adjustment to my new condition. Part of it is that most of my creative energy goes into design and code changes for work.

Nevertheless, I do have ideas and I did fill out the sheet I mentioned in an earlier post with the details for the five viewpoint characters in The Sentinels – New Blood. Having set the broad strokes for the character arcs, I can take those waypoints to flesh out some of the details.

One slow, ought-to-go-faster step at a time…

Well, that’s better than no steps. Honestly, I had hoped I’d be done by now but I’ve been absolutely stymied.

Sometimes, I tend to get a bit overwhelmed with the enormity of the task. Sometimes, I get lost in my desire to do too many things at the same time. Sometimes, I’m rearing and ready to go and my body completely lets me down.

Sleep is important but for God’s sake… I’d really like to be able to squeeze more out of my day than I currently can.

I can only hope that will come with time because the snail’s pace of progress is driving me absolutely 🦇🦇 bats 🦇🦇!
