Birthiversary

The funny thing about my birthday is that it is also my parents’ anniversary. Always a good reason to celebrate.

So, I’m 51. Meh.

Anniversary

My parents’ anniversary is my birthday plus 4. In this instance, they’re celebrating 55 years of marriage. That’s pretty special and not entirely commonplace. I’ve always looked to my parents’ marriage as the example to follow. They have always been best friends for as long as I’ve known them. That’s how I approach my own marriage. Hopefully, it can serve as a model for you as well.

It’s not always champagne and romance. We’re friends. Real friends. There’s friction. There are dark days and grumpiness. That’s real friendship. Getting through it because we’re friends instead of being selfish is what makes it last. I have my parents to thank for setting the example.

Summer Break

The heat wave has finally broken. Hopefully, we won’t get another one until at least August. I wouldn’t be sad if it didn’t go over 80 the whole rest of the summer, but that’s definitely too much to ask.

As much as I don’t personally care for summertime, if it’s gotta happen it should at least be pleasant instead of sweltering and scorching. I’ll just pass on the heat wave nonsense.
