Diabolical Eggs

It’s a leisurely πŸ’ Spring 🌷 saturday, a perfect time to whip up some tasty eggs. Scrambled, fried, deviled eggs and many more tempt my tastebuds, but today we’re focusing on those seasonal treats that are strangely named after a bad guy…

Deviled eggs are the perfect party foodβ€”humble, nostalgic, and always the first to disappear. ~Ina Garten

Saturday mornings are the perfect time for scrambled eggs and bacon with pancakes and home fries.

Ultimate breakfast isn’t quite the same without the eggs.

If you’re not into scrambled, there’s always fried, sunny-side up or even a nice fluffy omelette.

Hard-boiled for snacking, and then there’s the irresistible picnic favorite… deviled eggs!

Don’t even get me started on quiche.

I can attest that I am a real man and I definitely eat quiche.

The devil, you say!?!

Okay, so I did a bit of research and it turns out the thing that puts the devil in deviled eggs is the spice.

Deviled is a retro term for hella spicy. When you add that zing, your food is considered being deviled.

The logic seems to be: Devil πŸ‘‰πŸΎ Hell πŸ‘‰πŸΎ Hot πŸ‘‰πŸΎ Spicy 🌢️ πŸ‘‰πŸΎ “Deviled”

I like a classic deviled egg with a decent mustard to mayo ratio and a generous dusting of paprika, but that’s not the only way to do it.

Some of these variations look pretty tempting but, as usual, I’d much rather buy some that are prepared by enthusiasts than dig into it myself.

Who knows? Maybe I’ll be bored enough to get creative at some point. For now, I’ll stick to the basics.

And books are like eggs. You’re not entirely sure what’s in them until you crack one open.

That can either be exciting or revolting.

I’d rather that mine fall into the former category, but no prose is for everyone.

Everyone has their own tastes, interests, tolerances and red lines.

I’m sure mine will cross some red lines for certain people.

That’s a shame, but it just means that they are not my audience and that’s okay.

There are plenty of other authors who write other things. It’s a big market and people can find what they want.

I’m five chapters in on the Sentinels Chronicle with The Sentinels: Heartstrings, so hopefully people will like that when it gets published.

That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for breezy windows…
