Memorial May

This May has indeed been memorable. I thought it would never end but here we are, closing in on the end of it.

Maybe

I’ve been waiting and now we’re closing in on the culmination of my treatment for the various ailments I’ve been suffering of late. I’ll be getting my sleep study this week. I will be seeing the orthopedic specialist who helped me with my tibial tendonitis last year.

I had a follow-up on my colonoscopy and the biopsy of the polyp they found. Fortunately, it’s not cancerous but it was sufficiently concerning that they’d like me to have another one again next year instead of waiting the customary ten. Oh, joy.

Another momentous pain in my ass that is close to being resolved is the never-ending revolt against our current US President. The swamp things have been playing their game in the face of all rational expectations for years now. Trump has played his trump card: Declassify Everything. Sunshine is the best disinfectant, as they say. I’m hoping a lovely sunny day is coming our way at the expense of all of the agents of malfeasance who have been stirring the pot for the last couple of years. I think a lot of people are going to get dragged into the sunlight after a long career in the shadows.

Memorial Day

The men and women who have given their all for this country deserve more than to be represented by the two-faced weasels who are dragging this country down for their personal gain. I’m sick of the games, the lies and the betrayal that these dirtbags are perpetrating on our country. We owe our honored dead more than to let these enemies succeed in their despicable plans.

Nature

Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures. ~Henry Ward Beecher

Apparently, I haven’t been digging deep enough. I’m still kind of struggling with my novel writing. My natural inclination is to pants it but that has led to painting myself into a corner in the past. I tried the plotting approach, but it’s somewhat restrictive for my liking. I think a hybrid approach has helped me get as far as I’ve gotten so far, but there’s more story to tell than I’ve included in my plot points.

The character arcs aren’t as coherent as I need them to be. Fortunately, my son (who is a hardcore comics aficionado) is home for the summer and I’m going to be leaning on him to help me improve my story’s plot points and character arcs. I think the five Sentinels novels can be really incredible, but I haven’t dug deep enough to make them what they’re capable of becoming. Time to dig even deeper.

Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial beginning of summertime. Unfortunately for me, the ten-day forecast bears that out. I hope you enjoy your holiday and the coming “lovely” weather. I’ll be staying close to my keyboard.
