Superwhat?

Superwhat?

Not my team. Not my Super Bowl. Not gonna watch. Even the commercials aren’t enough to make it worth peeking in on. I just don’t care and that’s all I’m going to say about that.

Snowing, blowing, raining, etc.

Massive thanks to the Groundhog for seeing his shadow this year. Fortunately, everybody got home safely yesterday. We’ll see how it looks this morning. The forecast is to be sunny and cold as a polar bear’s knuckles. With yesterday’s snow and rain, gosh knows how safe it will be to drive around. Well, winter will be winter. What’re ya gonna do?

Since I’m stuck inside for inclement weather, it’s a chance to keep on creating content for my channel and make some tasty food for us to eat. It’s not all work and no play with me, these days. I have had a lot of catching up to do, but there are other things on my non-work plate.

I’m currently reading the graphic novel, Justice Society of America: Thy Kingdom Come, Part 3. Gog is creepy AF. He’s presented as a good guy, but there’s really no way he can be when you consider the Biblical references. I’m enjoying the story and I’m using it to get my head into the superhero genre.

I began writing a story a few years ago that I’d like to get back to. Now that I’m on the churn portion of my niche project, I’ve got some more time to put it back toward getting that story written. I really hate writing myself into a corner, so I’ll have to give the plotline a bit more consideration and planning.

Some More Rules

Rule #196: Not yet cited in Star Trek episodes, movies or novels

You may delay, but time will not. ~Benjamin Franklin

Okay, Ben, I get it. This one jumped off the page and slapped me in the face. Time is the fire in which we burn, as Dr. Soran said to Captain Picard in Star Trek: Generations. Time has been whizzing right by as I’ve been trying to get my course done and my example niche site up and running. Should have been done months ago, but honestly it’s been a chore finding time to record while I set things up. Sounds like an excuse and to a certain extent it is. I should have been more diligent, but it is what it is. Here we are, months into the process and only just getting the traffic started.

*sigh*

My beard is getting longer and whiter, but my work isn’t getting any done-r. Well, that’s not quite true. I’ve really been cranking away at it recently and all the moving bits are now cranking along like gears in a clockwork. Sooner would have been better.

Rule #197: Not yet cited in Star Trek episodes, movies or novels

When your work speaks for itself, don’t interrupt. ~Henry J. Kaiser

This is good advice to anyone. People have a tendency to undervalue their work. Whether it’s your job, your entrepreneurial activities, your art or your ministry, you should be willing to trust in your own value. If you’re doing your best, your work should speak for itself. I’ve been on both sides of that evaluation. When I was absolutely killing it, I let the results speak for themselves. When I was flogging it, I had to own up to my inadequacies and accept help. Fortunately, the latter were few and far between. I’d like to keep it that way and I hope you will strive to do likewise.

Rule #198: Not yet cited in Star Trek episodes, movies or novels

The roots of all goodness lie in the soil of appreciation for goodness. ~Dalai Lama

This seems like a good notion to start the week with. It stands to reason that goodness would hold most firmly where goodness is genuinely appreciated. It also explains the state of matters in Washington, D.C. these days. What a bloody cesspool. The scheming, the power plays, the backroom deals and the shoddy partisan theatrics are a lot more Ferengi and a lot less real world.

Well, I appreciate goodness and I hope you do too. It would be a better world if there were more of us and less of the Ferengi wannabes running things.

Rule #199: Location, location, location

This is the real estate agent’s mantra. Another one that was allegedly cited by the Ferengi in a licensed novel.

I don’t know the context, so I’m dubious about the choice. I think this is another example of letting any ol’ body write in a shared, licensed milieu. I was thinking of letting people write stories in the Sentinels’ universe originally, but now I’m rethinking that. I hate to be one of those ultra-controlling people, but there’s something to be said for maintaining creative control and establishing canon.

Ah, decisions, decisions, decisions…

Rule #200: A Ferengi chooses no side but his own

That seems a bit mercenary but consider the source. As polarized as our country has become over the past few years, we could certainly do with a bit more middle of the road living. That being said, some things actually matter. You do have to draw some lines and know why you’re drawing them. You have to stick to them. Primarily, this has to do with your business.

The line you should NOT cross is the quality line. Do not be a purveyor of crap. Do not just phone it in. Sure, everybody gets in a rut. Things get a bit stale or life gets in the way and you haven’t the time to do a good job. Better to do nothing than to do something badly. Okay, if you’ve got enough left in you to do something half-assed you can do that, but don’t distribute it until you can attach the other half. Right? Something semi-done can be corrected at a later time when you’ve got the clarity of mind to finish it correctly.

I don’t know who won Super Bowl 52 and I don’t care.  HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!  Life goes on and  🏈 Football 🏈 Season 🏈  is finally over. 😸 Now, that’s what I call progress. 😸
