National Cranberry Relish Day 2023

As a preview to the holiday weekend, it’s National Cranberry Relish Day. Not sure about “relish” but the sound that really kicks off the holidays for me is the glorious SCHLOOP when the jellied cranberry sauce slides out of the can.

Attitude Of…

Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. ~William Arthur Ward

As we roll up to the beginning of the holiday season, I’m reminded of my many blessings. First and foremost, my wife, Kelly.

Certainly, I am grateful for my current place of employment. This is, hands down, the best IT gig I’ve ever been involved with. The company is great. My colleagues are honest-to-gosh geniuses. The customers are awesome.

There are so many things to be grateful for this holiday season that it beggars imagination.

Is everything perfect? Far from it. I’d be really happy for this case of costochondritis to finally be over. I’d prefer to be on a 5 year schedule for colonoscopies instead of 6 months. I’d really like to have enough scratch to buy my ISBNs.

There are a few minor annoyances among the blessings, but the contrast helps make the blessings seem that much more beneficent.

Hmm, Relish

Okay, I can see that on ice cream, but it’s not really doing it for me in general. That’s okay. I’m sure some people love it.

In any case, we’re at the threshold of gluttony season. There are too many temptations to successfully dodge between now and Epiphany. So, we shall do our best to maintain a modicum of moderation.

A taste here and there won’t kill anybody. Let there be ๐ŸŽ…๐Ÿป Xmas ๐Ÿฅ›๐Ÿช Cookies ๐ŸŽ„!!!

Noble & Refined

Gratitude is a mark of a noble soul and a refined character. We like to be around those who are grateful. ~Joseph B. Wirthlin

Okay, so I’ve expressed the sincere gratitude I feel about the many blessings in my life. I’ve provided an inspiring quote about being noble and refined.

Be that as it may, I’m feeling a bit petty and bitter about something. In fact, I’m genuinely pissed off.

I had a plan. I had a specific intention. I had a desire and a belief that I could achieve my desired result.

4th Quarter is supposed to be my cool down lap. It hasn’t been that and I’m kind of fed up.

I don’t know how I’m going to accomplish what I really want to, but I can tell you that being pissed off tends to help me get things done.

What doesn’t help me get done is having my time monopolized. I am fucking exhausted. I am trying to do things in my off hours, but the only thing I can do is sleep or linger in an agitated insomniac state.

This is not sustainable. I have to get it resolved. Hopefully, I won’t burn out again before I figure out how to fix the situation.

In the meantime, Carol’s Christmas kicks off tomorrow. I hope you’ll stay tuned for the daily episodes from Black Friday through Twelfth Night. When Epiphany rolls around, I intend to have the POD version of the book ready for sale.

We’ll see if I have enough waking hours to pull that off. If I don’t, I’ll be pissed off about that, too.

That’s all for this “regular time” Hump ๐Ÿช Day. From tomorrow through January 6th, it’s ๐ŸŽ„The Most Wonderful Time Of The Yearโ˜ƒ๏ธ!
