National Deep Dish Pizza Day 2023
Booyah! I could really go for some Pizzeria π Uno today! Ding, dang, dong. Now I’ve got a serious craving…
π Hey, Let’s Get A Pizza! π
For the first time ever, overweight people outnumber average people in America. Doesn’t that make overweight the average then? Last month you were fat, now you’re average – hey, let’s get a pizza! ~Jay Leno
As it turns out, I was too freaking busy to go grab a pizza. Fortunately, we had one over the weekend when the granddoggies came to visit.
The week has been pretty busy so far. No signs of letting up.
The good thing about busy is that the time just flies.
The bad thing about busy is that less gets done during that time than might be desired.
Whatever, busy means I keep getting paid and that’s good enough for now.
Deep π Dish, Baby!
Making Pizzeria Uno’s Sausage Deep Dish
Today is National Deep Dish Pizza Day, and that’s a great way to celebrate any high stress Hump πͺ Day.
Some people like the big square Sicilian style. I don’t know why. Maybe it reminds them of school lunches or something. Too much bread to cheese ratio for my liking.
Classic New York-style pizza is a winner any day of the week. You simply can’t go wrong.
There’s a place (I assume it’s still there) on Tilghman Street (in the Giant shopping center where the Blockbuster used to be) that made the most astounding stuffed pizzas. We went there a lot when I worked in Allentown, back around the turn of the millennium. I hope it’s still there, because now I have a nostalgic craving for some.
However, since the national day for today is Chicago-style deep dish, let’s talk Uno. I was stationed at Chanute, AFB for weather school and never heard of this stuff. Granted, Rantoul was in the vicinity of Champaign-Urbana. I guess it was far enough away from Chicago that Chicago-style pizza wasn’t the phenomenon that it became after I’d left Illinois.
I had my first Chicago-style pizza at the Pizzeria Uno in Reading with Kelly. Sadly, that location has closed up, but there are some down around the greater Philly area. One’s not too far from King of Prussia, so that’s definitely worth a road trip at some point. In the meantime, I can always hit the Walmart for their miniature, single-serve pizzas.
π Pieces π
You better cut the pizza in four pieces because I’m not hungry enough to eat six. ~Yogi Berra
I cranked out some pages over the weekend. Even without the waypoints, it seems like valid content. I don’t know.
I’ve been listening to it. It seems to flow and it seems to fit. I guess we’ll see if it stays. That’s what editing is for.
That’s it for today. I’ve got a project to get back to. I hope you’re having a productive week.
