National Package Protection Day 2023

And here I thought the extended shopping holiday weekend was over, but no. It’s National Package Protection Day and I’m totally cool with that. Nobody gets to touch my package 📦 but Kelly.

🛍️ Wrapping A Present 🎁

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. ~William Arthur Ward

As such, let’s acknowledge the gratitude I feel for the many blessings in my life. First and foremost, I am genuinely blessed to have Kelly in my life.

I’m equally blessed to have a career that keeps a roof over our heads, food on our plates and heat in our ducts.

I appreciate the love of my immediate and extended family. I appreciate the company of my fuzzy companions.

I’m glad of the peace and quiet of my remote community. I appreciate the natural beauty all around me and God who makes it all possible.

Porch 🏴‍☠️ Pirates

I have the good fortune to live in the middle of nowhere with trustworthy neighbors. Up to this point, we haven’t had to worry about porch pirates.

If you are in a location where this is a problem, the video above provides some humorous redress. More importantly, you need to figure out why it is the way it is and do something about it.

We can fix our society if we examine the problem and come up with appropriate solutions. Elections have consequences. Do better.

Connecting Things

Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things. ~Steve Jobs

I have neither the time nor the energy to opine at length today. My schedule has been pretty hectic lately.

On the point of what Steve Jobs said, I feel that. We think of creativity as something someone is deliberately doing, but it really doesn’t feel that way.

When I write my stories, I feel that I’m recording something I see in my mind’s eye. I rarely plan these things. I experience and report events from wherever.

On the point of what Jordan Peterson says below, creative people occupy the chaotic fringes of existence. Partially, because we find the stable, established status quo to be stifling and partially because we invite and embrace the chaos.

The raw madness is an ingredient for our natural inclination to transform things. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

That’s all for today. I hope you’re having a lovely 🍂Autumn🍂 and holiday season. Merry Christmas to all and God bless.
