New Year, New Challenges

November and December were a flurry of activity, so I started the year off with a bit of a staycation but it’s time to get back in the saddle.

Proactivity

My usual mode is geared around procrastination. Even so, I have gotten to the point where it’s time to just go do it. Last year was a whole lot of not doing it. Sadly, it was a whole lot of not doing anything but recovering from long-term injury and acute disaster.

The recovery continues, but there are things I can do even in my impaired state.

Re-resolutions

Last year’s resolutions involved mastering a tornado kick. I’m not set up for twisting maneuvers just now, but I’m optimistic that I can get it done this year.

Short-term recovery plans are centered around the never-healing left ankle and the surprisingly ouchy ribs. Long-term recovery plans involve taking my hopefully-recovered body through some weight reducing regimen. My weight needs to decrease and it needs to stay off permanently.

I also need to get my sites more productive this year. The whole broken rib thing really limits the type of work I can do at this point, so the best plan is to make the work-at-home deal pay off at long last.

Mess Making

Rignt now, I’ve got a bunch of paint splattered on the wall. I’m throwing dates, names and outlines of events down on paper. I’m trying to concoct a timeline to build a story around. There’s going to be a five-story arc of novels, but I’ve got more paint to splatter before it turns into art.

That’s the scoop for this weekend. Lots of things to get on with in the new year. The twelve drummers are drumming and the Wise Men are on their way. I hope you’re being productive after this joyous holiday season.
