Playing ⚾ Catch ⚽ Up

Sadly, we’re back to more “seasonable” weather. Heat and sunshine for weeks and months to come. Blech! One could hope for the 🌧️ paradisiacal conditions 🌧️ of this past weekend to continue but I suppose there can be too much of a good thing. 🤔

To Err…

To err is human, but to really foul things up you need a computer. ~Paul R. Ehrlich

Like many people, I have a love/hate relationship with computers.

Like many people, I absolutely depend on mine to keep me employed.

Working in a virtual office situation has been a real godsend.

Right up to the point where my hard drive crashed or that time when my I, K and comma buttons stopped working.

We become so dependent on these things that when disaster strikes, we’re really stuck for what to do.

Fortunately, I was able to format and reinstall Windows and everything else when my hard drive went on me.

Unfortunately, those keys I mentioned are still out. I went to the store later that day and got a wireless keyboard. In the meantime, I was substituting things for the I, K and comma. It looked weird but it got me through the day.

Always remember, random 💩 happens.

Also remember, there’s always a 🚽 workaround.

Look on the bright side. No matter how random life gets, you always have another way to handle it. Stop a moment. Get a fresh perspective. A solution will present itself.

That’s the benefit of an optimistic outlook. Look on the bright side, friends.

Charming Bit of History

Forging a 17th Century [Bardiche] – Historical Build

As medieval weapons go, nothing looks quite so imposing as the bardiche. It’s kind of like a sword but it’s mostly like an axe.

I plan on having some of these in the Tales Of Olde Auringia to give it a more exotic feel. I’m not sure who’s going to have them yet.

The Bardiche: axe and sword hybrid of Eastern Europe

Among other historical wielders of the bardiche, the Streltsy always come first. Ivan the Terrible‘s personal guard were armed with a bardiche, a musket and sometimes a saber. These guys were the fist of the emperor before he upgraded to the Oprichniki. Even so, the reforms that Ivan put in place to normalize the Streltsy lasted for centuries and served subsequent Tsars admirably.

Hmm, maybe I’ll arm the Archduke of Auringia’s personal guard with these things. They look pretty badass no matter who’s carrying them. There’s a pretty good chance the hobgoblins will start using these, too.

Homework

Being a writer is like having homework every night for the rest of your life. ~Lawrence Kasdan

That would be great if the homework was strictly writing but there’s so much more involved in putting a book together than simply writing it.

I’ve been learning some of the technical aspects of the publishing business recently.

Granted, I’ve already published two paperback novellas based on my Holiday Season Serial Romances. I made the book covers myself. I formatted the interiors of the book. That’s only a fraction of what’s required if you want to sell your books outside of Amazon.

Between that and the learning curve at work, I’m getting tuckered out pretty quickly of late.

This I could do without. I’m already low-energy enough so as it is.

I just seem to get more and more tired anymore.

Good thing I can work from home…

That’s all for today. I hope you’re having a great week.
