Spring Cleaning
It is, by all accounts, a lovely Spring day. I’ve been attending to a couple of matters that have been delayed for a variety of reasons.
Looking Forward
I’ve been organizing a number of resources so I can get back to some of my neglected sites.
Since my old laptop croaked about a year ago, it put me in a position of diminished capacity.
Now that I’m back in possession of a robust toolbox, I can start producing videos again.
Looking Inward

One of the big surprises associated with crossing the half-century mark is that they want to have a good close look at your innards.
As a young man, one becomes accustomed to the basic “turn your head and cough“. Maturing a bit introduces the slightly embarrassing “bend over and crack a smile“.
When you turn 50, you really hit the jackpot! Forget the grabbing and poking. We’ve progressed to cramming a camera up your wazoo!
HELLO!
So, today is the preparatory liquid diet. Not bad so far, but I haven’t gotten to the part where the digestive aids enter into it. More on that in future posts…
Look Around
A work of art is a world in itself reflecting senses and emotions of the artist’s world. ~Hans Hofmann
One of the most interesting parts (for me) of writing a story is the world-building aspect of it.
In the fiction that I most enjoy (on screen or on the page), a fully developed milieu is part of the enjoyment. Whether it’s the lands of Westeros or Oz, having a coherent idea of who’s who and what’s where is crucial to making the story believable.
In the case of the Sentinels, it takes place in a world almost exactly like our own. The “what-if” aspect of it is the ramifications of what happens when there are superheroes in a world like ours.
I also have a fantasy milieu that I used for a D&D campaign that will encompass a series of books. Auringia and the world around it are a creation of my own.
Eventually, I will tackle a space opera set in the not-too-distant future. I really like the Interstellar Wars setting from GURPS: Traveller but, obviously, I don’t want to use copyrighted material. I think that my setting will wind up being a random mixture of their ideas with Wing Commander, Babylon 5, Star Trek: Enterprise, Battlestar Galactica and even The Orville.
Today is the preparation stage. Tomorrow is the procedure. I’ll let you know how it comes out…
