Summer’s Falling Away

One of the great things about the departure of summer heat is the opportunity to share body warmth with my gorgeous wife.

Worthwhile

Love may not make the world go round, but I must admit that it makes the ride worthwhile. ~Sean Connery

As grumpy as summer weather tends to make me, the simple cure is the cozy cool of Autumn and the crisp chill of Winter. Both of these remedies provide ample opportunity and reason to get as close to Kelly as humanly possible.

Difficult as it is to try to write with her holding onto my arm, it’s well worth trying.

It’s been a difficult couple of years but the one unwavering bit of wonderful is my wife’s undying love and devotion. I’m blessed to have such a magnificent person in my life.

Top 10 Sean Connery Performances

Speaking of magnificent people, Sean Connery has recently turned 90. He’s a legend on screen and destined to be one of the greatest names in cinematic history. The breadth of characters he’s played is well represented in the video above but it doesn’t quite do justice to his career. One of the movies he starred in that has local relevance was his role as Jack Kehoe in The Molly Maguires.

I had one of those little notifications yesterday morning. Windows update. Well, these things usually take about 20 minutes or so with a reboot or two.

Oh, hell no.

This thing was an all-day affair. It was still running after I dropped Kelly off at work. It was still running when I left to take Dorothy to school. It was still running when we got home from picking up the cement bench ends for Allan’s Eagle Project as well as stopping at the church to drop them off.

We got back around 11 and it was still running!

I notified my friend at work of the technical difficulties. Come 2ish, it was still running!

I told Kelly that I could pick her up from work because Dorothy was home doing school over Zoom due to a water main break in Pottsville, but it was still running!

You’d think this thing would get done some damned time but it just kept going and going and going!

Thanks, Microsloth!

So, once it did get done, there was still some ancillary crap that needed to run. It kept on running til damned near Midnight!!!

I let it idle overnight and was able to get on this morning but it is sssllllooooowwwww AF. So, more needs to be done to mitigate the “improvements” that Microsloth installed for me yesterday. Hopefully, we won’t have to wait 3 minutes between mouse clicks when I try to do yesterday’s work today… 😠

That’s it for today. I haven’t got too much to say as I’ve got to try to get my PC to behave itself for work purposes. Hope you’re enjoying your semi-autumnal week.
