Sweet ๐Ÿ  Potato

Strangely enough, today is National Cook a Sweet Potato Day as well as George Washington‘s actual birthday and the first day of Lent. Let’s dive into this peculiar midweek nexus.

First Wish

My first wish is to see this plague of mankind, war, banished from the earth. ~George Washington

It’s been a year of a war that never needed to happen. Hopefully, the situation can be resolved peacefully sooner rather than later.

I think President Washington would be aghast at the shitshow which is Admin46. Can’t wait until it’s over. FJB.

Lent starts today. As a time of spiritual preparation, it’s probably a good time to spend some time in prayer and reflection on how to bring some peace to this world.

My numbers are creeping up again, so I should probably give sweet potatoes, potatoes and all other kinds of carbs a wide berth for the foreseeable future.

It’s not horrible, but the upward trend is something that needs to end. So, while I’m no longer one for “giving things up for Lent“, I’m definitely going to have to focus more carefully on my nutritional needs.

I’m also having some serious difficulty sleeping, which is absurd. I love to sleep. Sleeping comes naturally. I have difficulty staying awake in a lot of cases. The problem I’m having with sleep is the compulsive need to either stay up late or get up early in order to do some kind of work.

That’s actually pretty messed up.

If I was going to try to give something up for Lent, it would be that. There are only so many hours in the day, no matter how busy I am. I’m reaching a breaking point that I can’t afford to cross again.

Inevitable

Science fiction writers foresee the inevitable, and although problems and catastrophes may be inevitable, solutions are not. ~Isaac Asimov

And there’s the rub. I don’t have solutions. I don’t have an inkling of any solutions.

I’m not even sure what problems and catastrophes I want to address in my stories.

I don’t have the mental energy to write a blessed thing these days.

Whenever I’m not obsessing about overdue work assignments or my scheduled blogs, I’m basically drained to critical levels.

My problems are time and energy. The catastrophe is that it leaves me with no spare creativity to get on with any of my fictional endeavors.

Gah!

I’ve literally got nothing at this point.

That’s it for today. Hopefully, if it’s Ash Wednesday for you, it’s not because you burned your sweet potatoes.
