Wait, What?

Wow, it snowed yet again. Of course, that makes me think of one of my favorite holidays.

Christmastime Is Here!

Christmas waves a magic wand over this world, and behold, everything is softer and more beautiful. ~Norman Vincent Peale

Despite the fact that all the stores are ready for Easter (Valentine’s Day is soooo last week), I’m ready to start taking on the 2019 Christmas content extravaganza.

On my site, Christmas All The Time, my content schedule is once a month on the 25th from February through October and daily from Thanksgiving through Epiphany of the following year.

As usual, I left the dailies until the last possible opportunity last year. As usual, I was stressed the heck out and didn’t really get to enjoy the holidays as I’d intended to.

Not this year!

This year, I’m starting early and finishing early! If it’s good enough for Christmas shopping, it’s good enough for Christmas content. If I’m not done and scheduled by the time the Christmas trees start popping up at the Walmart later this year, I’m gonna get plenty Grinchy.

Our Groundhog Lacks Focus

Punxsatawney Phil predicted an early Spring this year. The next day it was like Springtime. A few days later we had a Polar Vortex that brought Northern Tier conditions around here and Planet Hoth conditions to the Northern Tier. Then it was Springtime again. Phil’s having a hard time delivering consistently.

The same can be said for certain gurus I know.
Kinda sucks when you’re less dependable than a groundhog.

Just the same, I’m enjoying everything that comes my way. Cold snowy days are a good opportunity to stay inside and write. Warm sunny days are a good opportunity to get out and run errands and then come home so I can write.

I’m almost done the taxes for this year. Local and State are done and submitted. My younger kids have filed their first Federal return. Unfortunately, I couldn’t e-file since it’s their first time. I’ll have to print them out and send ’em in so they can e-file next year. A couple more to attend to and then that’s that for this year.

Did I mention that I like to write?

Crock Pot Fiction

In the writing process, the more a story cooks, the better. ~Doris Lessing

Well, the Sentinels series has been stewing for years now. The purpose of the story has evolved a bit, but the cast is essentially the same. The characters are maturing and enjoying more full-fledged backstories.

I was looking at ways to have antagonists without resorting to a world-ending scenario (Honestly, I hate apocalypse tropes.) like the one in The Umbrella Academy or a super-baddie (I’m leaning toward insidious organizations and minor antagonists rather than superpowered megalomaniacs.) like Darkseid or Thanos.

The recurring menaces are The Chaosians. They’re inhabitants of a dimension of chaos (go figure). They’re not necessarily evil. They’re just so different from us that some of the things they do come across as insidious plots or evil, destructive acts.

I’ve started on novel one of five after realizing the one I’d come to a dead stop on was four of five. Helps if you start at the beginning in order to tell the tale.

That’s the news for today. We’re all covered in snow. By this time tomorrow, we probably won’t be. C’est la vie!
