Our first Saturday in May brings us full circle from another beautiful weekend when we got married and rolled off to the Poconos for our honeymoon…

Sewn 🧡 Together

Chains do not hold a marriage together. It is threads, hundreds of tiny threads, which sew people together through the years. ~Simone Signoret

The thing that makes a marriage last is being best friends.

I have long since passed the threshold of having known her longer than I didn’t.

I’m sure you think that’s a weird threshold if you don’t have someone like that in your life, but it’s actually quite magical.

More of my life has been in a world where I have known Kelly than when I haven’t and I’m that much better for it.

Without Kelly, I didn’t know what it was to love unconditionally, to be a dad, to be emotionally anchored to someone genuinely wonderful.

I am the luckiest man alive because of Kelly and I thank God for her being in my life every single day.

πŸ’™ Happy πŸ’ž Anniversary 🀍

THE FLINTSTONES HAPPY ANNIVERSARY SONG

I can’t hear the words Happy Anniversary without thinking of that Flintstones episode, so there’s the song that automatically plays in my head.

What are we doing? Everybody wants to know.

I’d like to say I’m taking her somewhere expensive and romantic, but we’re doing something we like a lot better.

We’re going to take a nap.

Yes, that sounds anticlimactic, but it makes us very happy.

Being close and still with your favorite person in the world.

Who could ask for anything more?

Okay, I liked that champagne glass bathtub we had in our honeymoon suite.

That would be nice to supplement our nap, but the nap is the most important part.

πŸ’’ A Good Marriage πŸ₯‚

There is no more lovely, friendly and charming relationship, communion or company than a good marriage. ~Martin Luther

That’s it in a nutshell. A good marriage is the best of all possible relationships.

It’s the cornerstone of a functioning civil society.

As you can see, I’m in favor of it; particularly for myself.

I’m also in favor of it for my characters.

Quite a few Holiday Season Serial Romances wind up with at least one wedding, because that’s my idea of happily ever after.

There are, as in the real world, more functional marriages in the Sentinels Chronicle than not.

You don’t have to jam divorce and cheating and familial strife into a story to have functional drama.

I support marriage by depicting it realistically in my work.

If you’re married, I hope you’re happy. If you’re not happy, I hope you find someone to marry.

That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for lilacs…
