Augustulus

I had a somewhat stressful week, but it’s ending on a high note. Specifically, there’s going to be 🎂 cake (but not by the ocean 🌊).

As this very busy week draws to a close, let me again bore you with just how astoundingly wonderful my wife is.

If you follow Kelly on Facebook, you’ll know she’s been having a countdown for her sister’s upcoming 50th birthday.

Due to reasons, Stephie won’t be available on her actual birthday so we’re having a party for her today.

🦠 OH MY GOD!!! 🦠 SUPERSPREADER!!! 🦠
 🙄 CTFD. 💉 We’re all vaccinated, so mind yo biz… 🧐

Anyway, Kelly has party games to celebrate her baby sister’s half century.

She’s silly like that. She’s always coming up with ways to add joy to the simplest get-togethers.

I can’t believe that she would actually think I don’t want to spend time with her.

Utter rot.

I’m just busy. I’m still having issues with the work/life balance situation.

Well, she didn’t like it when I was unemployed and had absolutely nothing to do. Now that I’m working, there’s a trade-off.

It won’t be forever. It just feels that way.

I love her. 💕 She loves me. 💕 That’s all there needs to be.

🏛️ Last Emperor ⚔️

Apparently, the Roman Empire fell on September 4th, 476.

Logically, I would have saved this historical retrospective for two Saturdays from now, but I wanted to talk about Augustulus because I like having August in my post titles during the month of August.

I’m kinda OCD like that…

Romulus Augustulus: What Happened to the Last Emperor of Rome?

Romulus Augustulus

So, why do we even care? That’s so long ago. Right?

Well, there seem to be parallels to today.

Romulus Augustulus was installed by his dad because he preferred to stay behind the scenes, pulling the strings.

Meanwhile, we have a childish buffoon who was installed by an equally corrupt apparatus for equally nefarious reasons.

Do I think the United States will fall by September 4th of this year?

Well, I certainly hope not but God knows that Joe & Company are doing their level best to see that it happens.

What a bunch of incompetent assholes…

Why did Ambrosinus stop Odoacer from killing Romulus

I just hope that the country actually lasts until the midterms next year.

The insane, corrupt and inept policies are all but guaranteeing a massive flip.

The Demonrats see that as being akin to the Goths and Vandals overthrowing their empire.

The rest of us see that as a restoration of sanity.

Well, hopefully anyway. There are plenty of RINOs who also need to go away.

Ten Minute History – The Fall of Rome (Short Documentary)

We’d genuinely like the country to be run according the Constitution and established laws.

We’d like to see actual criminals go to jail for their perfidy.

We’d like to go back to normal again.

It’s too late for the Roman Empire. Hopefully, it’s not too late for us to take the reins back from the insidious morons who are doing their level best to destroy it for their own personal gain.

The world is indeed comic, but the joke is on mankind ~H. P. Lovecraft

Yesterday was H. P. Lovecraft’s birthday, so I figured a quote from him would not be out of place.

While his style of writing is very apropos for the stuff that The Conclave is up to in my Sentinels series, it doesn’t fit into a Holiday Season Serial Romance at all.

Yes, Rob, you clearly need yet another thing to do. Don’t you?

Fair enough, but the Holiday Season Serial Romance is on the calendar. It absolutely must happen, regardless of my already overloaded to-do list.

To this end, I’ve been trying to get my Christmas All The Time monthlies done early so that I’ll have more time to plot this year’s Holiday Season Serial Romance.

So, what can I tell you?

The title will be Holly & Ivy.

It’s about a pair of sisters named (you guessed it) Holly and Ivy. Holly is already married, so I’m looking at a temptation-redemption arc for her. Ivy is more solitary and will have a typical holiday romance arc.

That’s all I’ve got. I’ve been way too busy to give this even the most fleeting of thoughts so far.

As I mentioned, I still have to get the posts for August, September and October finished before I can really devote a lot of attention to the eponymous sisters.

That’s it for today, folks. I’ve got miles to drive and cake to eat.
