A Weekend For Remembrance

Lest we forget those who gave the final full measure for our country, we have a day to honor their sacrifice.

Attitude Of Gratitude

Gratitude is the fairest blossom which springs from the soul. ~Henry Ward Beecher

I’m grateful to the countless men and women who have fought and died to preserve our country and way of life.

I’m grateful to the countless men and women who work hard every day to keep the lights on, the shelves stocked, the streets safe.

I’m grateful to the countless men and women who keep the internet humming so that I can work from the comfort of my own home.

I’m grateful to the countless men and women who do all of the invisible things that make it possible for me to sit down in my off time and watch a movie, binge a series, learn some history or wait in eager anticipation of the winner of some competition.

I’m grateful that we have solutions to most of the world’s problems.

I’m grateful that we have periodic elections to try to get rational people who would implement those solutions into office.

I’m not so grateful that those people are not currently in office in sufficient numbers to overturn some of the deliberately created problems we’re experiencing these days.

I’m not so grateful that people would deliberately vote for people who act in a way they wouldn’t approve of from the average dude down the street.

I’m not so grateful that there’s a machine in place to facilitate cheating so that these problem-causers can get into and stay in power.

I’m not so grateful that people who are clearly blithering idiots are able to hold positions of political power. I mean, these people are shockingly dumb.

I am grateful that these idiots are making such a hash of things that even their cheating, conniving and downright criminal bullshit cannot preserve them much longer.

I am grateful that there are solutions to the current spate of problems and that there are countless men and women quietly preparing to fix things once the idiots are no longer in charge.

Memorial Day

History of the Holidays: History of Memorial Day | History

Memorial Day and Veterans Day are two different holidays. Memorial Day is specifically to honor the fallen.

Remember those who gave their all to preserve this country. They felt it was worth defending. Shouldn’t you?

Ideas

You get ideas from daydreaming. You get ideas from being bored. You get ideas all the time. The only difference between writers and other people is we notice when we’re doing it. ~Neil Gaiman

Unfortunately, I’m too damned tired to have any ideas. There’s been a lot going on at work.

Long days fixing reports and coding functions leave little mental energy for writing fiction.

In theory, I’d have this long weekend to lay down some serious words.

In reality, I’ve got tons of work to catch up on.

The only idea I have at this point is to just get as much done as possible so I can have a moment to rest, think and daydream.

That’s all for today. I hope you’re having a lovely holiday weekend.
