General Pulaski Memorial Day 2025

Today we celebrate a Polish hero of the American Revolution. It’s General Pulaski Memorial Day, and he’s a fine example of how Poles have made America great from the get-go.

Father of American Cavalry

I came here, where freedom is being defended, to serve it, and to live or die for it. ~From Gen. Casimir Pulaski’s letter to George Washington in 1777

Established by President Reagan in 1986, this day recognizing Casimir Pulaski’s contribution to the American Revolutionary War pays tribute to him and to the contributions of Polish Americans across the centuries.

Based.

I’ve mentioned before that the Polish people with whom I’m acquainted are some of the smartest and hardest working people I’ve ever met.

Clearly, Casimir Pulaski more than fit that mold back in his day.

So, not only is the change in weather something to celebrate this weekend, but so are the many contributions that Polish Americans have made to this country.

But seriously, thank Almighty God it’s finally beginning to feel like πŸ‚AutumnπŸ‚.

We can finally toasty up with a fluffy blanket, warm comfy clothes and a lovely pot of pierogi and get on with the actual season that it is.

Polish Patriot ~ American Hero

General Casimir Pulaski : The Journey of a Revolutionary Hero

In order to be recommended to George Washington by Benjamin Franklin, General Pulaski had to have established himself as a cunning warrior in Poland.

Fighting for the freedom and sovereignty of Poland against the Russians, Pulaski proved himself to be an innovative and ferocious warfighter.

Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth would approve.

Again I say, based.

Echoing the period in which Reagan made the proclamation that established this day of recognition, we have Pole fighting Russian overreach.

Unfortunately, it didn’t work out for him in his home country.

After fighting ferociously in defense of his country, his fortunes turned and he wound up in Paris.

A chance meeting with our ambassador to France, Benjamin Franklin, presented him with a new opportunity to fight for freedom.

His experience as a professional officer in Poland provided the Continental Army an elite advantage.

The ragtag collection of civilian volunteers were provided with professional military drills and innovative tactics and strategies.

Just like Lafayette and von Steuben, Pulaski brought a professionalism to the Continental Army that helped us face down a world class military force and secure our freedom as a new country.

Pulaski’s Spirit

General Pulaski’s spirit survives today — in our hearts and in the rights enshrined in our Constitution. We can enjoy our freedoms because of the enduring vision for which Casimir Pulaski fought and died. We stand for these rights in our dialogue with other nations, where each released political prisoner, every gain for a free press or freedom of worship, or any progress toward freedom of speech and assembly is a new victory in the struggle General Pulaski undertook more than 200 years ago. ~Reagan Presidential Library, Proclamation 5540 — General Pulaski Memorial Day, 1986

We celebrate the contribution of this extraordinary patriot.

We also celebrate generations of Poles who have contributed work, ingenuity and even their lives, following in his footsteps.

Most of all, I celebrate that it’s finally feeling like πŸπŸ§Έβ˜• Cozy Season ☺️πŸ₯§πŸ‚.

Oh, my word, could it have waited any longer?

I’ve been chugging Pumpkin πŸŽƒ Spice πŸ₯€ Latte by the gallons, wishing it into reality only to be slapped with a week in the 80s.

Well, screw that noise. October is clearly a ber month.

Get cold so I can enjoy my favorite season already. Damn.

Work is crazy, so I didn’t have time during the week to write additional episodes.

I’m stuck at 18% complete. Now that it’s the weekend, we can correct that.

I also have to get The Lights of Pine Hollow published.

I still haven’t gotten that formatted and covered for sale.

This year has been that busy.

But, it’s the weekend. I’ve got a good night’s sleep and it’s time to, as General Pulaski might say, Charge!

That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for Shawarma…
