Exhausted author naps under a wizard hat on a vintage chaise in the blazing August sun.

Solar Siesta

It is another hot Hump 🐫 Day in the waning days of my least favorite season, and the temperatures tend to simply suck the life out of me…

🌞 Summers Last Stand 🔥

This morning, the sun endures past dawn. I realize that it is August: the summer’s last stand. ~Sara Baume

We’re 63% done with 🌞 Summer 🔥 and have only 37% more to endure.

I find that to be a reassuring statistic.

In the arc of my least favorite season, it’s actually farther along than I even realized.

I’m so happy, I could simply take a nap. 💤

Not that I need much of an excuse for that, but still.

The best way to celebrate the departure of bugs, heat and humidity is to sleep through it, so 😩 Huzzah! 😴

🔥 Damn Hot! 🌡️

Good Morning Vietnam (1987) – “It’s Hot, Damn Hot, Real Hot!”

Whenever I think of hot weather, I always remember this bit from Good Morning Vietnam.

Naturally, the worst day in Pennsylvania’s growing season is not even in the neighborhood of a typical day in Vietnam, but it still feels that way to me.

Thanks to my Northern Tier acclimatization back in 1986, anything over 60°F is a damn sauna to me.

So, as I’ve said before, I appreciate the seasonal attire 👙 on those who wear it well, but I’ll trade skimpy outfits for seasonable temperatures (by my frigid standards) all day long.

🌤️ Thank Heavens 👼🏻

Thank heavens, the sun has gone in, and I don’t have to go out and enjoy it. ~Logan Pearsall Smith

From Mr. Smith’s pen to God’s ears.

Fortunately, in my own century, we have air conditioning and I can function by emulating a more seasonable season in my cozy little house.

I’ve been cycling back through books 1-3 to make fine adjustments based on the analytical findings.

I am pleased with the overall lack of spelling and grammatical issues in the prose.

Some of the other things that turned up in the analysis are giving me things to think about.

That’s great progress in a season that makes me want to hibernate to escape it.

That’s all for today. See you back on Saturday for 🥪🥪🥪🥒🥒🥒
