Begone 🗣️ Already!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, fun in the summer sun and all that… Feh! I want to get on with Pumpkin 🎃 Spice 🥤 Latte season, huh?!?
🥵 Get Ott, Now Onct 🌡️
Don’t linger like this. You have decided to go away. Now go! ~Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince
I mean, seriously.
I love farm-fresh produce and my scantily clad wife as much as the next guy, but enough is enough already.
Isn’t it freakin’ Labor Day yet?
We just need to get on with the changing leaves and the Pumpkin 🎃 Spice everything.
I want to wear long house pants instead of shorts.
I want to need a blanket.
I want to be cozy, not running the AC and fans all the time.
Just stop with the yuck and we’ll all be just fine.
Least 🌞 Favorite 🔥 Season
How Can I Miss You When You Won’t Go Away
I used to like summer as a kid because it meant school was out.
School was fine, but having all day to myself instead of just the afternoon and evening was preferable.
Having more time to play and watch TV is every kid’s dream.
But even as a kid, I appreciated the turn of the season from dawn to dusk freedom to Spiced Wafer time.
It was incredibly special how we all sat down to dinner together at the table, but so much more when weather permitted oven-fresh dishes like meatloaf and gravy with mixed vegetables and mashed potatoes.
That’s utterly intolerable in the sweltering months of the year unless you keep the house refrigerated with AC as I tend to.
Look, I don’t let a little thing like being August get in the way of a savory meatloaf anymore, but back in the day it was more normal to deal with the seasons as they came.
And they came about the same as they come today. Hazy, hot and humid is a typical Pennsylvania summer no matter the century.
Which made me look wistfully forward to 🍂Autumn🍂, even if it meant heading back to school to earn it…

🌞 Buh-Bye 🍃
Don’t go away mad, just go away ~Rob Knowlan
Better clothes, better food, better treats, better weather. That’s what comes of the departure of the current season.
It also makes it officially 🍁🧸☕ Cozy Season ☺️🥧🍂, when Kelly can appreciate my human space heater act again.
Now that the kids have all gone their separate ways for better or worse 🙄, that coziness can be the basis for a new normal.
There are plenty of new shows for Kelly and me to binge together. Walks to take. Sights to see. Talks to have.
I’ll still be banging away at my Sentinels Chronicle and this year’s Holiday Season Serial Romance, One Little Thing 💍, but I’ll need to be more attentive to my beautiful wife.
Of all the treasures I’ve been blessed with, the single best one is having Kelly as my silly, gorgeous, cuddly wife forever and always.
I don’t want her to think I’m taking her for granted.
I just want to give her seasonal reprieve from the heat of the day by not adding my own to the ambient misery.
It won’t be much longer before snuggling up for a movie or binge-watch session is entirely appropriate and welcome.
That’s something worth looking forward to and I absolutely do.
That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday when the rest of the year will end in –ber
