A Cool And Pheasant Evening
Happy chilly mid-October Hump 🐪 Day! It’s this time of my favorite season when we see lovely pheasants picking through the harvest-shorn farm fields…
Fresh October Brings The Pheasant
Fresh October brings the pheasant, Then to gather nuts is pleasant. ~Sara Coleridge
Part of the colors of 🍂Autumn🍂 includes the humble pheasant.
The males of this wild species put on a show to attract their more conservatively plumed female counterparts.
Cobalt blue heads with cherry-red wattles top off a wild, spotted body.
It’s a sight to behold and a welcome part of the seasonal tableau.

Beautiful Birds – The Ring-Necked Pheasant
Me? I like to look at birds and admire their mercurial behavior.
They just go about their business, feeding, preening, fluttering around for reasons known only to them.
I’m not into hunting.
I’m not opposed to it.
I have a lot of respect for guys who can trudge around, finding and bagging their quarry.
I simply don’t engage in it myself.
Eating is an entirely different matter.
Farmed or hunted, poultry is poultry.
As with Saturday’s venison, pheasants are seasonally tasty delights.

The Whirring Pheasant Springs
See! from the brake the whirring pheasant springs, And mounts exulting on triumphant wings ~Alexander Pope
Majestic as they may be, they are not unlike their fellow fauna, the heedless deer.
Pheasants are as likely to run out in the damn road as any other wild species.
Fortunately, they’re not big enough to cause serious damage to one’s car, but it is still disconcerting to accidentally run one over.
Damn, y’all. Stay in the fields and the woods. There’s plenty of room to forage without having to try to cross a busy road.
As for me, I didn’t get any writing done this weekend.
I did, however, get some graphical assets taken care of.
I’ll be editing and staging Episodes 1-5 of One Little Thing 💍 for release after Thanksgiving now that I have those done up.
That’s all for today. See you back on Saturday for 🍲🎃🎃🎃
