Look Both Ways, 🦌 Fool
As we 🦌 continue to enjoy the 🍂autumn chill 🍂, we encounter 🦌 something less enjoyable. This is 🦌 the time of year when the 🦌 deer 🦌 love to scoot out onto the road 🦌 without first looking both ways…🦌
🦌 Rats With Hooves 🦌
Though large herds of deer do much harm to the neighbourhood, yet the injury to the morals of the people is of more moment than the loss of their crops. ~Gilbert White
Everybody wants to save Bambi until he runs in front of your car.
Once you’ve lost a headlight, gotten a hood mangled or even totalled a vehicle to these quadrupedal morons, you stop liking them as much.
Oh, they’re cute. Sure.
They can be cute in the damn woods.
As long as they stay off the road, they’re cute as little buttons.
But they don’t. They cross without looking both ways.
They have no apparent cognizance of traffic patterns.
You’d think the doppler racket of an approaching car would be adequate notification, but no.
So, be careful out on these rustic Pennsylvania byways.
They give you little to no warning that they’re ready to cross, and everyone finds out the hard way what that comes to.

As I said above. They’re cute in the woods.
That’s precisely where they should stay.
Alas, they go where they will in search of food and companionship.
That’s the worst part.
Without natural predators in the environment, it’s hard to keep the numbers down enough to prevent traffic problems.
That’s why I’m thankful for our hunters.
Deer may be graceful and perhaps even adorable, but most importantly, they’re quite tasty.
Venison stew, steaks, sausage, the whole butcher shop: delicious.
That’s the only deer I want to be running into, thank you very much.

🍖 Just Eat It 🍽️
If you want to save a species, simply decide to eat it. Then it will be managed – like chickens, like turkeys, like deer, like Canadian geese. ~Ted Nugent
I’m sure animal lovers are appalled at the suggestion, but it’s true.
Without predators to provide balance, the bunnies and the bambis will wreck the environment.
That is the way of things.
Sadly, I have no progress to report yet.
It has been a busy, busy week and I need a lovely bit of sleep to make the most of my weekend.
So, sleep I shall and perhaps dream of tasty venison…
That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for 🪶…
