We’re finally at the end of good ol’ summertime and I’m here for it.
Buh-bye to the bugs, the burning hot steering wheel and the bother of having to endure heat and humidity.
As previously stated in this bi-weekly slice of my brain, this is the growth season.
Fresh produce is the natural product of my home state’s glorious abundance.
Until it isn’t.
4Q is all about shutting down and going for a ❄️ long Winter‘s nap ❄️.
We watch the colors and wait for the snow.
The produce is canned up for the lean seasons and stocked in the pantry to brighten a bleak January afternoon.

Particularly the apples.
What would 🍁🧸☕ Cozy Season ☺️🥧🍂 or Christmas be without mulled cider?
What would 🦃 Thanksgiving 🥧 be without apple pie to accompany the pumpkin pie?
What would a Pennsylvania breakfast be without apple fritters?
What would a chilly afternoon be without a piping hot apple dumpling?
Even sliced and dipped in caramel sauce, you really can’t go wrong with apples.
Fortunately, out here in the country, we’re up to our ears in them and so much the better.
This versatile fruit is part of what makes Pennsylvania great.
Bad Apples

It’s a thankless job these days, although that’s often because there’s little to thank them for.
I’m trying to capture some of that in the The Sentinels with characters like Jess Cooper, Barb Dwyer and Ted Kurtzman.
We’ve seen plenty of Jess from The Sentinels: New Blood and The Sentinels: Price of Engagement, up to The Sentinels: Heartstrings, but we’ll be seeing more of her competitors from The Sentinels: Doing the Work on forward.
As for One Little Thing 💍, the only news is that it’s still taking form and just waiting to hit the page.
Like the lovely apples of which we’ve already spoken, some things simply need time and sunlight to ripen…
