Approaching The Threshold
I was bringing Connor home from karate last night and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was already dark at 8 pm.
🎈 🥂 Woohoo!!! 🎉 🎈
Summer is dragging to a close and I’m not going to miss it one bit.
Threshold of Pain
It wouldn’t be a post on this blog if I didn’t take an opportunity to kvetch about aches and pains.
My feet are totally killing me today. Apparently, these little compression socks aren’t quite enough to get me through the day.
Fortunately, I picked up some prescription-grade compression socks. We’ll see how they work when it’s a bit less summer and a bit more pleasant out. Will presumably get detailed instructions on their use from my orthopedic specialist tomorrow morning.
My chest is killing me. I was pushing a heavy shopping cart around and that’s apparently outside the scope of my capacity to do things.
Yes, I don’t have any scars or missing limbs or anything that visibly shows the agony I’m experiencing so feel free to treat me like a fucking bum.
If you can’t see how much the tiniest things cause the most egregious pain, go right ahead and judge the crap out of me.
Your opinion won’t actually make it hurt more or less, but I’ll certainly think less of you for judging me out of context.
Threshold of Autumn
As August draws on, the sun begins setting earlier and earlier.
🎈 🥂 Woohoo!!! 🎉 🎈
I like the night.
I like cool temperatures.
I like colorful falling leaves.
I like Pumpkin Spice and Apple Cider.
I like not drowning in perspiration.
I like wearing long-sleeved t-shirts and cargo pants.
I like drinking warm beverages because
it’s no longer boiling outside.
I like when the insects all go back into hibernation.
I like Autumn and I can’t wait for it to get here.
Threshold of Accomplishment
Happiness is a direction, not a place. ~Sydney J. Harris
It’s been said that money can’t buy happiness, but a total lack of money can’t buy anything. That’s why I’ve been working on getting my sites all on a sort of standard.
My wife thinks it’s some kind of pointless busy-work but that’s because she’s never understood what I do for a living. Some things, no matter how trivial they seem to outsiders are absolutely crucial.
I mean, if you want to make a picture frame; you just need 4 pieces of wood, right?
No!
You need specifically sized pieces of wood AND you need something to tack them together at the corners AND you need a board to go behind the picture AND you need some glass in front of the picture AND…
You see? It’s not as simple as people want to try to make it. There are a certain number of steps and they must be completed in order for it to be done. Leaving it half-assed is no way to succeed.
So, despite the lack of comprehension and the abundance of complaining about it all, I actually am doing things. These things will soon lead to profit.
I’m in no shape to try getting a job. If I can’t push a grocery cart around without hurting myself, the prospects for a decent-paying job are slim and none.
What I DO have is the tools to build a business and recoup the last couple of years of lost wealth. Do you know what CAN’T possibly help me recoup the last couple of years of lost wealth?
A JOB!
Jobs might help you pay the bills (if you get the right one) in the here and now but there’s nothing that will build wealth at a job (unless you’re a bank president or CEO of some major megacorporation, maybe, they’re usually just broke at a higher standard of living).
JOB:
Just
Over
Broke
You’re trading unretrievable time for some amount of money that they deign to give you for it. It’s a sucker’s game and I’m just as well off not having one.
I’ve got the tools to build a very profitable collection of online businesses. I’ve been working with more than half my brain tied behind my back up to this point. I’m still not at peak efficiency but I’m better than I’ve been in ages.
Progress is progressing whether my wife sees it or not. She’ll just have to be patient a bit longer.
I’ve spent most of the day driving all around and I’ve still got tons to do, so that’s all for today.
