Christmas Is Over?

Well, technically, it’s the Second Day of Christmas for Orthodox ☦️ Christians. So, get those Turtle Doves cooing and polish up your icons. It ain’t over til it’s over, y’all…

When I was a boy I was told that anybody could become President; I’m beginning to believe it. ~Clarence Darrow

Yeah, talk about the lowest common denominator. Hard to imagine how things could get worse, but Crazy Uncle Joe is doing his level best to hit bottom and keep digging.

That being said, things are still generally okay for us. Work has gotten busy, so at least I don’t have to worry about layoffs or other sorts of difficulties.

Despite the existential threat of continuing government overreach and widespread Karen Culture, we’re still able to mind our own business and live our lives way out here in flyover country.

As much as my son likes to complain about being out in the middle of nowhere, I’ll always prefer elbow room to urban hustle and bustle. That’s my choice, though. When he’s done high school and has his diploma, he’s free to go wherever he wants and live how he sees fit.

Inspiration arrives as a packet of material to be delivered. ~John Updike

Since I’ve been thoroughly enjoying the whole shop from home experience, it seems only fitting that I can get all of the inspiration I need sitting right here on my couch.

Generations of writers have certainly cringed at a statement like that, but for me it’s a must. I have neither the time nor the wherewithal to go adventuring like Hemmingway.

Would I like to get back to New York City to do some in-person research, get the vibe of the city, see the sights? Yes

Am I going to anytime soon? Hell, no.

They have to fix it in a major way before I set foot there in person. I don’t see that happening quickly, so I’ll have to draw on memories of when I’ve been there and resume the virtual tourism in order to get on with The Sentinels.

Unfortunately, as I said before, things have gotten busy at work and I’ve got stuff to do before Monday. We’ll see if I get any of my genre reset activities squeezed in.

Fortunately, what I have to do falls under the category of once it’s done, it’s done. So, git ‘er done! Then, I can get back to the me stuff…

Not much of a weekend, but at least I got to sleep in. I hope you’re enjoying your weekend.
