End of the Fifties

Happy 🥵 Hump 🐪 Day! Huge thanks and gratitude to everyone who sent birthday messages. I’m on the final lap of my fifties and life is getting better all the time…

Live Forward

Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards. ~Søren Kierkegaard

That seems so true that it’s almost obvious.

We don’t have time machines, so we can’t go back and change things that have already happened.

We can only course-correct from where we are.

Birthdays are waypoints on the map to wherever we’re going.

This one found me at work doing drudgery instead of writing my book.

That’s a course-correction that needs to be recognized and made.

It’s past time to stop wasting years that I don’t have so many of remaining.

Final Boss

The Three Stooges Birthday Song

I will pretty much never retire.

Some people who say that mean it to be bleak, but that’s not what I mean.

When I retire from job work, I will accelerate my writing.

I’ve got millions of words ahead of me.

The sooner I can do that and still pay bills, the better.

Invent It

The best way to predict the future is to invent it. ~Alan Kay

As I’ve said before, the benefit of the 21st Century is the ability not to have to do things the old way.

Clearly, I can’t keep going on as I have.

I’ve got to invent something that facilitates my writing and still pays the bills.

What is that?

If I knew, I’d already be doing it.

That’s technically one more damn thing I have to do that’s not writing, so I’m not in a hurry to get to it.

It needs to be done all the same.

The future is now, so I need to stop doing the same old, same old.

That’s all for today. See you back on Saturday for humidity…
