First Snow Of The Season

When I took out the trash last night, I was pleasantly surprised to see 👀 that ❄️ it ❄️ was ❄️ snowing. 🌨️ ☃️

Leaves Fall

Now Autumn’s fire burns slowly along the woods and day by day the dead leaves fall and melt. ~William Allingham

Part of the reason that Autumn is known as Fall is due to the falling 🍃 leaves 🍂.

Before the first gentle snow of late Autumn blankets the world, the spectacular colors that paint the landscape in fiery tones begin to coat the ground. It’s a natural process. The 🍃 leaves 🍂 fall. The ❄️ snow ❄️ falls. The gentle blanket covers the ground in a recipe of renewal that comes to full fruition in the Spring. The leaves are broken down into fresh new soil under the wintry blanket of snow.

We’re so used to instant gratification anymore that we don’t even realize that this sort of thing has been going on for ages, heedless of our frenzied lives. If we notice at all, it’s to take a moment’s pleasure in the beauty of Autumn 🍂 colors and Winter ❄️ snow or to be annoyed by the mess and hazard they create.

Snow ❄️ is all very scenic until you’re sliding around like a hockey puck. Autumn 🍂 leaves in the rain can be every bit as treacherous.

Nature doesn’t care. It goes about its business, heedless of our modern age and hurried lives.

Theres something quietly reassuring about that.

Despite the turmoil of civilization, nature will continue on its beautiful way simply doing what it does. The year ends in gentle preparation for the next while we all dial up the hype over politics, family get-togethers, shopping and planning our resolutions.

Maybe we can all resolve to be a bit more natural next year. Maybe we can slow the pace a bit. Maybe we can take time to appreciate the beauty around us instead of driving through it like our asses were on fire.

Maybe we can simply be still and recognize the beauty of what weve been given. That wouldn‘t be so bad.

I saw old Autumn in the misty morn stand shadowless like silence, listening to silence. ~Thomas Hood

Living In The Moment

Mr. Bean on the Town! | Full Episodes | Classic Mr. Bean

While nature’s seasons are ponderous, our lives are comprised of fleeting moments. We can choose to live in perpetual fury at all of life’s injustices and inconveniences or we can live joyfully in the moment like Mr. Bean.

Part of this character’s appeal is his childlike approach to everything. He may be faulted for being a bit too literal about things and always looking for a bit of a shortcut, but the uninhibited joy of living is what makes his antics so enjoyable.

Maybe we could try to be a bit more spontaneous and perpetually delighted. The world would probably be a better place.

Do Something

The undertaking of a new action brings new strength. ~Richard L. Evans

Where there is want, there is a need to tighten one’s belt and hunker down in hope of better days. When prosperity begins to blossom, we need to nurture it’s growth and not take it for granted.

There’s a time for caution and a time for action. When it comes time for action, we should grab life with both hands and enjoy the ride. That’s what I’ve been up to lately.

New job. New business. New possibilities.

I’ve had seasons of gloom. I’ve had seasons of pain. I’ve had seasons of dearth. Lately, it seems I’ve finally turned the corner into a season of opportunity. What better time than the greater holiday season to be truly able to appreciate all that life has to offer.

Autumn and the approaching Christmas season are, without a doubt, my favorite times of the year. I’m feeling very blessed to be riding into the season of Joy with a new career, new colleagues, and new clients to serve. It’s a great time to be alive and I’m glad you’re along for the ride.

That’s all I’ve got to say today. My words are as snowflakes. They fall beautifully in the moment and are soon forgotten. Perhaps they gave you a moment to reflect. I hope you have an enjoyable remainder of the week.
