Go Caroling Day 2023

Strangely, for a Wednesday, it’s Go Caroling Day. Unfortunately, I’m an introvert so I’m going absolutely nowhere, but I will probably hum some Christmas music while I work.

Christmas Cheer

The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear. ~Buddy the Elf

Christmas carols are one of the best parts of the holiday season.

I really love when certain radio stations switch to 24×7 Christmas music and I’ve always enjoyed singing in church.

Kelly likes when I sing. She’s very sweet to be so indulgent.

I enjoy the silly songs like Frosty, Rudolph and Jingle Bells and I enjoy the religious songs like Joy to the World, Angels We Have Heard On High and so many others.

They’re uplifting. They’re fun to sing. They make the holidays feel special.

Do we have Easter carols? Halloween carols? Independence Day carols? No, we do not.

Sure, those holidays have music that go with them, but apart from All Glory Laud And Honor, you really don’t have a corpus of holiday sing-alongs as expansive as you do with Christmas.

That’s one of the many reasons I love Christmastime so much and part of the inspiration for starting Christmas All The Time.

The music, the food, the snowy weather, the family get-togethers, the movies and holiday specials are just a few of the things that make Christmastime uniquely festive.

I hope you’re enjoying it as much as I am.

Caroling

I’ve been caroling a few times. Wasn’t really my thing, but I do like having an excuse to sing.

It’s one of the hallmarks of the holidays and it’s unique to this season.

When you say caroling, you can only picture it in association with Christmas.

It’s interesting that not only do you have people wandering around in the coldest, darkest days of the year singing, but you have them having enough of a variety of songs to keep doing it for hours on end.

Carolers were the 24×7 Christmas radio station before there was radio. How fun is that?

Happiness

The most worth-while thing is to try to put happiness into the lives of others. ~Robert Baden-Powell

Writing makes me happy. Hopefully, that enjoyment comes across as an enjoyable piece of work.

Doing what I like to do, naturally, makes me happy. What it also does is to help me exorcize thoughts and feelings that don’t fit well anywhere else.

There is a lot going on these days. It provides a banquet of potential storylines, plot twists and elements of drama.

Sometimes What If? is a purely speculative exercise, but it can also be a cathartic experience.

Running through a hypothetical scenario to examine how it plays out is an interesting writing prompt.

Running through a hypothetical scenario to examine how you process the experience has the potential to be personally therapeutic.

Both versions raise happiness in different ways. At this time of year, anything that amplifies happiness is all to the good.

I hope that Carol’s Christmas is amplifying your happiness. I’m pretty happy with the story so far. With any luck, you are too.

It’s mid-week and it’s only a few days until ❄️ Winter ❄️. I hope you’re enjoying the latter days of Pumpkin 🎃 Spice season in conjunction with Christmastime. How much more hygge can you get than that?
