National Chocolate Covered Anything Day 2023

It’s a wonderful Saturday to be National Chocolate Covered Anything Day and I’m a fan of all that. Cherries, strawberries, raisins, peanuts, almonds, pretzels and so forth, totally love it.

Love & Chocolate

All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn’t hurt. ~Charles M. Schulz

Indeed, a little won’t hurt. I’m doing a lot better at moderating my guilty pleasures these days.

A pleasure that I’m not at all guilty about is loving Kelly and the kids and our fuzzies.

I feel particularly blessed to have a cozy little family and a cozy little house to work from home at.

The holiday season was always a time to get together with family. Thanks to the wonders of social media, we never really need to be apart.

We’ve all got our own lives to live our own way, but we’re all a keystroke away from touching base at any moment of the day.

Never thought we could be cozy from hundreds of miles away, but it’s like having them here even when they’re not.

Dipping Cookies, Pretzels, Cherries in Chocolate

One of my favorite things that the kids tend to get me for Christmas is a box of chocolate-covered cherries.

Unlike previous years, I don’t eat the whole box in one sitting. I’ll have one a day until I run out.

Having to be sparing about it makes it that much more of a treat when I do indulge.

But yeah, from way back when, I’ve always enjoyed chocolate-covered stuff. Raisinets, Goobers, Cella’s Cherries, chocolate-covered pretzels, fudge-stripe cookies, all that is guaranteed to capture my attention.

And why not? It’s tasty and it’s a nice reward for a hard charge at work. I can’t splurge like I used to, but the moderation makes savoring the treats that much more delicious.

You’ve got to do something enjoyable after you’ve endured an arduous slog or else what’s the point?

Anyway, if you’re on a less restrictive diet than mine, I hope you find these two videos helpful. Sure, you can just buy stuff at the store, but there’s something special about enjoying your DIY confections.

Me? I don’t have the patience. I’d rather be writing.

The 🍫☕ Basics

I always degenerate to chocolate and coffee. ~Mandy Ingber

Me too.

As far as writing goes, I tend to be a night owl, and the coffee and chocolates have long been part of the routine.

Can I write during the day? Sure. I’ve done that plenty of times, but I find that I get a better flow going later in the day.

Some of the talking heads on AuthorTube encourage you to get up super early and get writing sprints done before you go to work.

Nah.

I’m not a morning person, nor do I want to be. I like writing all night and sleeping until lunchtime.

Who knows? Maybe I’m part hamster or something. We all have our own crazy little routines.

If I had my druthers, that’s how it would go. I’d live my life during the day and write all night.

Who knows? Maybe I’ll get there eventually.

That’s it for this mid-December weekend. There’s not much longer before the big day, so don’t do anything that will get Santa to switch your chocolates out with a bag of coal.
