πŸ”₯πŸ‘ΏπŸ”₯ Well, it won’t be πŸ‚ Autumn πŸ‚ until next Wednesday and it certainly feels like it. πŸ”₯πŸ‘ΏπŸ”₯

The 🀐 Secret

The secret of business is to know something that nobody else knows. ~Aristotle Onassis

But that’s only valid if “nobody else” refers to people who are not in your organization. There’s a problem with disclosing necessary details at work recently.

Having been on the development side of things before, I know it’s drain, a chore, a serious time-suck.

Thing is, it’s also necessary. People need to know what’s where.

‘Nuff said about that. I’m sure it will get fixed soon enough.

Back to another of my least favorite topics.

πŸ”₯ It’s still freaking summertime! πŸ”₯ Blech! πŸ”₯

So, next week it will finally be πŸ‚ Autumn πŸ‚ again and, hopefully, it will feel like it.

We’re supposed to have pretty spectacular colors this year.

Today, it’s still hot as heck and I wish I could live on a space station with a holodeck programmed to feel like Autumn for ten months of the year, with two months of jolly, snowy winter.

Hotter Than Hell – KISS

To be as succinct as possible, Summer sucks.

The heat, the humidity, the bugs, screw all of it. I’m glad it’s almost over.

I’ve got a bottle of Pumpkin πŸŽƒ Spice coffee creamer in the fridge just waiting for that equinox to flip.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t officially start until 3:21pm next Wednesday, so I’ll have to hold off on the Pumpkin πŸŽƒ SpiceΒ creamer until Thursday. Good God, summer. Just go away…

πŸͺ“ Striking At The Root πŸͺ“

There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root. ~Henry David Thoreau

The thing we often enjoy about superhero stories is all the activity. Spiderman on patrol, swinging around nabbing muggers, burglars and other miscreants makes for an action-packed comic.

When you have a super team like the Justice League or the Avengers, it really amps up the action to a fever pitch. They even highlighted this by showing the team action shot at the beginning of Avengers: Age of Ultron.

The thing is, this is ultimately busy work.

For story development purposes, our heroes are at the outskirts of the problem. They’re going to need to follow the breadcrumb trail of mooks to the big boss fight at the end.

What The Sentinels don’t know is that they’ve got an ace in the hole.

While they do their typical thing, sniping around the edges and not even knowing there’s a big bad behind all of the problems in Empire City, a guy who will eventually become one of their signature villains is actually striking at the root of the problem.

Thing is, he knows what the problem is because his aunt is drafting him to join The Conclave.

David Harz is actually a decent guy. He means well. He always felt a sense of noblesse oblige about what to do with his family’s seemingly endless funds.

That being said, he’s given to equivocating. If he can justify something that’s a little iffy, he’s going to do it for the greater good.

When he discovers what The Conclave is about, he’s having absolutely none of it.

Unfortunately, it’s an offer he can’t refuse. He’ll have to work covertly to undermine the villains, using their own tactics and ruthlesness against them.

Such things come at a cost. Doing what’s necessary with ruthless efficiency can lead to an ethical slippery slope. Since he’s already inclined to equivocate, it’s only a matter of time before he becomes the monster he’s seeking to destroy.

The evil that men do lives after them; the good is oft interred with their bones. ~William Shakespeare

That’s it for one miserable, sweltering day. I hope you’re having a lovely week.
