National Chocolate Cake Day 2024

I’m trying not to do the food days like I did last year, but it’s National Chocolate Cake Day! How am I going to let that slip by unnoticed?

Sometimes you have to be creative to get things done.

While the maxim “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” still applies, sometimes “it” doesn’t even exist, so you need to “fix it” by making something new.

While I can make quite a few very creative things out of literally nothing but an idea, what I cannot make is more time.

I have a fixed budget of time and energy. The creativity that it takes to make something from nothing costs a lot of brain cycles and time.

Well, it’s the weekend and time to recharge my batteries. How better to do that than with a lovely chocolate cake?

Naturally, it’s got to be a sugar free chocolate cake. I can eat normal cake, but it will have an unfortunate impact on my A1C. Best if I don’t.

Everything in moderation. I try to maintain a well-balanced diet with all of the primary food groups.

Unlike some people, I like most varieties of vegetables, fruit, meat, dairy and grains. Not canned peas. Those are completely revolting.

I love mushrooms and like to put them in as many dishes as I can manage. Unlike my son, I like cooked carrots.

There are so many tasty things that are good for me, but today is National Chocolate Cake Day.

If there’s going to be chocolate cake, there’s going to be chocolate icing. Kelly won’t have it any other way.

Personally, I don’t mind white icing on chocolate cake, but Kelly prefers the fully chocolate experience.

I just like the comic book sensibility. If I can turn them into films and TV series, that’s just icing on the cake. ~Gale Anne Hurd

Even with the fake sugar in my sugar free chocolate cake, I tend to get a bit of a charge out of simply having a treat like this now and again.

With that kind of a surge, it makes me want to call an end to my ❄️ long Winters nap ❄️ and get back on track with The Sentinels series.

To get my head in the right space for that to work, I’ve been loading up on thematic drama and AuthorTube videos.

Right now, I’m just too tired from all the stuff I need to do at work to seriously consider writing anything. I’m literally desperate to, but I just don’t have the energy to do it.

That’s kind of frustrating.

I’m not sure how I’m going to resolve that because work is only going to continue getting busier.

Also, The Sentinels is going to take a lot more organization than a Holiday Season Serial Romance. The latter are listed on Amazon as a series and there has been some interaction between the books, but they’re not as dependent on plot continuity as The Sentinels will be.

Another benefit of stretching out my ❄️ long Winters nap ❄️ is that I can check out stuff in other genres without getting tempted to step off of the superhero trail.

There are some fantasy movies I wanted to catch up on while I’m technically in neutral. As much as they might make me want to get going on the Tales Of Olde Auringia, I’m too tired to write anything.

If I wasn’t, I’d ensure it was in the current genre. I want to finish at least 3 of the 13 books in this series before I switch it up and write an Auringia story. Believe me, I’ve had quite a bit of subconscious and semi-conscious churn on this genre over the last few months. There are ideas stirring, but the folks in Empire City get their turn first.

That’s all for today. I hope you enjoy your weekend and possibly a slice of chocolate cake if you get the chance. See you Wednesday.
