🌞 Peak Summer 🔥
Congratulations, we’ve reached the approximate middle of my least favorite season. Maybe that’s a glass half full or it’s a season half evaporated. Either way, we’re headed in the right direction as far as I’m concerned…
Purpling Summer
In silence now the purpling summer passes… ~Clark Ashton Smith
Well, I’m not entirely sure what Mr. Smith was on about, but when I think of purple in this particular season, plums, grapes and eggplants come to mind.
Naturally, I fully approve of each of those lovely bits of produce.
Eggplant makes for a lovely parmesan patty or can be cubed as part of a marvelous stew.
Plums are sumptuous, juicy and the pits are not difficult to remove.
Grapes are like nature’s candy. You can just pluck handfuls off at a time.
These are also lovely when dried into prunes and raisins respectively.
More people seem to like raisins than prunes, but I’m definitely a fan of both.
They’re ludicrously sweet and chewy. They brighten up an otherwise sweltering day.
🌻 Sunflower Festival 🛝
Yenser’s Tree Farm to hold annual Sunflower Festival
A local treat is Yenser’s Sunflower Festival. It’s an annual treat for Kelly and me to get out and walk around a bit in the sunflower maze.
Their general store is a treat and they feature local artisans.
Naturally, I’m more of a fan of their pumpkin patch in the lovely 🍂Autumnal🍂 cool, but the Sunflower 🌻 Festival is a sweet 🌞 midsummer 🔥 treat.

Top?
The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer… ~Natalie Babbitt, Tuck Everlasting
As with Mr. Smith, I don’t really have context of what Ms. Babbitt is trying to say. August is hardly the top.
It’s more like halfway down the slide, but that’s just me being optimistic about reaching the end of this dreadful season with no further heatwaves.
Top, middle or bottom, at least some of it is gone and we’re merrily on our way to 🍁🧸☕ Cozy Season ☺️🥧🍂.
I’ve been a bit stalled on writing recently, which is kind of annoying because I’m actually itching to get The Sentinels: Heartstrings done.
I’m so close to the end, but I have some key elements to wrap up before moving on to The Sentinels: Doing the Work.
That’s what is hot in my neck of the woods today. I hope your AC is working and the iced tea is perfectly brewed…
That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for 🌞🐕🥵🔥🔥🔥
