I Needed That, But Ow!

I caught up on some work by pulling an all-nighter. I went to bed yesterday around 6pm and got up this morning at 9. The downside is that I missed some of my routine eye drops. Having missed those, my eye is now extremely light-sensitive and fairly sore.

So, I am farther ahead than I’ve been in weeks, but I’m still pretty far behind on everything.

What I’m not behind on is sleep, thank goodness.

I was completely shagged out when I staggered into my bed yesterday.

I’m still a bit light-headed, but some of that is from the light sensitivity.

Fortunately, it is the weekend and I can afford to lounge about a bit and recover.

Assuming that happens, I need to put my thinking cap on and set out a plan for maximizing progress next week.

I’m tired of being behind and stuff just needs to get done so I can do something else.

I also need to come up with a plan for learning some much-needed entrepreneurial skills and publishing house business acumen.

Time’s a’wasting…

Kelly Is Fascinated By Tiny Houses

Stealth Box Truck TOUR – Studio Apt on Wheels

For some reason, Kelly is absolutely fascinated by the tiny house concept.

I mean, it’s neat and some of the solutions are quite clever, but I could live without it.

Our house is actually too tiny, in my opinion. We could use some more rooms and some more space to store things.

I’d love to have a basement, an attic, an office and a garage.

You can’t have that in a tiny house. They’re built for ultra-efficiency and minimalist living.

Screw that.

Personally, I’d prefer to have a gigantic, stately mansion or even a full-fledged castle before I get too old.

We’ll have to see which option pans out.

Villains Love To Lie

One who deceives will always find those who allow themselves to be deceived. ~Niccolo Machiavelli

Part of the whole villain gig is not only having a gaggle of mooks, but also pulling the wool over people’s eyes.

Classic supervillains are conspicuous in their villainy, but some of them have an alter-ego that serves as a social front.

The Conclave are more the insidious socialite types. They’re part of the “donor class” who spend most of their time attending to social calendars, political fundraisers and all of that good 1% stuff you see in shows like The Gilded Age.

Since the group has been around since Dutch colonial days, they would have been in the core group of Empire City social elites. The trick is, how do I deal with the fact that these people never die?

They need to be in the circle of people who go to fundraisers, museum openings and things of that sort while still being detached enough to have their participation go without undue commentary.

Thing is, while they’re effectively immortal, they’re not eternally young. They’re aging slower than normal due to their rituals, but they are elderly in appearance.

That helps a bit with the social camouflage. People notice that old people with old money are at these things, but they needn’t be “fashionable” enough for people to feel the need to suck up to them. They need to essentially be “set dressing”. It’s enough that they’re there with their money.

Additionally, they do have extended families who aren’t in on the big secret. These subsequent generations present the decade-appropriate faces that the socially-aware people are drawn to. The members of The Conclave come along as elderly uncles and aunts, adding visual noise to any event and to whisper in certain ears as needed.

Well, I need to do more research to get a handle on how 1%ers roll in order to depict these people correctly and how they would have the ability to secretly run Empire City.

That’s all for now. I’ve got to rest my sore eyes a while.
