National Coffee Milkshake Day 2025

Woo hoo! Today is National Coffee Milkshake Day and I’m all over it. Two of my favorite things in one creamy treat.

☕ Perfect Combo 🥤

I like coffee because it gives me the illusion that I might be awake. ~Lewis Black

One of my favorite ice cream flavors growing up was coffee. I still love it.

I have a hard time drinking coffee that doesn’t taste like melted coffee ice cream.

I like it heavily creamed, highly sweetened and just a tad warmer than tepid.

Judge if you will, but that’s how I roll.

So, given that today is dedicated to coffee milkshakes, I shall certainly endeavor to create one.

☕ How To 🥤

Perfect Coffee Milkshake

That certainly seems viable, but I’m not big on cleaning up my blender.

For me, it’s easier to put ice cream in a mug (coffee ice cream or vanilla with instant coffee mixed in) with some milk and mush it with a big spoon.

I know I have one of those submersible blenders, but I haven’t figured out where I put it for storage, so big spoon it is.

The important part is not the making but the drinking.

I’m very enthusiastic about drinking one at this point.

☕ Writing Zone 🥤

I write in public libraries and sometimes coffee shops. I can’t write at home and gave up trying long ago. I need activity around me that I’m forced to block out. It helps me focus. ~Stephen McCauley

It helps to get into that comfort zone in order to settle down and get back to writing.

Kelly has an errand to run, so I’ll be writing while she’s away.

I was stuck on a bit of a news addiction for a while, but I’ve cultivated a growing dislike for current events.

I’ve been training myself to drop out of programs that are just babbling or repeating themselves.

It’s pretty liberating, and it helps me get back into writing mode.

Focusing on the story is a lot more satisfying than listening to opinion pieces and a dozen perspectives on the same stupid nonsense.

For me, a nice coffee milkshake and some actual mind-time in the Sentinelsverse is a much better way to spend my Saturday.

That’s all for today. See you back on Wednesday for some cheesecake…
